Behavioral Health Technician

Average hourly wage of $28.00 for a 36-hour work week. Work week will consist of three, 12- hour shifts including one weekend shift.
We are looking for full time Behavioral Health Technicians to work three, 12-hour shifts including one weekend shift. This gives you the opportunity to have a great work life balance. With only working three days per week, you will have 208 scheduled days off for the year!
We offer very stable employment opportunities with 36 hours per week as full-time status.
General Description of the Position:
This position provides supports working directly with people who are experiencing high mental health needs providing them with opportunities to overcome their behavioral challenges. You will assist people to reach their goals and dreams by providing education, role modeling and encouragement. You will also be responsible to assist the person throughout their day across all environments that they participate in. You will work closely with the person, the family, external case management, contracted psychologist, and/or psychiatrist. Additionally, this position works with and supports the person's team by modeling, coaching and teaching skills that will improve their ability to be effective in supporting the person to achieve success.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher degree required, preferably in psychology, social work, human services, social services or related field from an accredited college or university. Relative experience may be considered in place of degree.
Ability to be credentialed and then execute those skills (Sensory Processing, ABA, CPI, Autism Spectrum).
Additional experience preferred in working with people who have developmental disabilities, and/or other disabilities with significant mental health needs.
Experience in and knowledge of behavior consultation, crisis intervention, the effects of medications on behavior; teaching is also a plus.
Flexibility in work schedule and ability to adjust quickly to sudden workload changes; must be willing to work various shifts including weekends, evenings and be on-call when unexpected needs arise.

Responsible for low-level vehicle maintenance of assigned agency vehicles, (check oil, walk-around inspections, clean); be able to drive at night and in the day in varying weather and road conditions ensuring for the safety of passengers.
If applicable to the person, assist people with personal hygiene and care, possibly in bathing, brushing teeth, etc.
Comply with Black Hills Works, Health Department, and Administrative Rules of SD, (ARSD) rules and regulations.
Build relationships by facilitating friendships, partnerships, and personal and professional relationships.
Lifting requirements may exceed 50 pounds during medical and safety emergency situations.
Depending on the needs of the person, may push or pull a person in their wheelchair and/or use proper lifting techniques with assistance from a mechanical lift.
Instruct and assist people at work and home activities; may include carrying groceries, cleaning, vacuuming, sweeping and laundry.
Medication management, if applicable to the individual. Follow the six rights to ensure proper medication administration.

Work Environment
As an IT, you are primarily stationed aboard ships at sea, while you'll serve aboard submarines as an ITS. You will also receive shore assignments. Your typical work environment will be a clean, climate-controlled indoor space used to house electronic equipment or computers.
Training & Advancement
Upon completion of initial training at Recruit Training Command Great Lakes (known as Boot Camp), both ITS and ITs report for specialized training, including:
Class A Technical School (24 weeks) in Pensacola, FL (for ITs) or Groton, CT (for ITSs) for training on Microsoft, Cisco and Oracle computer software and hardware fundamentals, automatic data processing, security, and system theory and operation.
After A School, Information Systems Technician Submarines (ITS) will also attend submarine training:
Basic Enlisted Submarine School (8 weeks) in Groton, CT, for training in basic submarine systems. Note that this training is only for Information Systems Technician Submarines (ITS).
After completing training, ITs and ITSs will receive their first assignments. ITs may be assigned to a ship, communication station or shore station, while ITSs may be assigned to a submarine, communication station or shore station. Promotion opportunities are regularly available but competitive and based on performance.
Advanced Training
Advanced training as an Information Systems Technician may be available during later stages of your career. For those with further leadership aspirations and a college degree, Officer roles may be available, providing opportunities to lead and train others.
Post-Service Opportunities
Specialized training received and work experience gained in the course of service can lead to valuable credentialing and occupational opportunities in related fields in the civilian world, such as IT and network support, computer programming, web development, and information security.
Education Opportunities
Beyond offering access to professional credentials and certifications, Navy technical and operational training as an Information Systems Technician can translate to credit hours toward a bachelor's or associate degree through the American Council on Education.
You may also continue your education through undergraduate degree opportunities like the Navy College Program and Tuition Assistance and the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Qualifications & Requirements
A high-school diploma or equivalent is required to become an Enlisted Sailor and an Information Systems Technician.
Due to the sensitive nature of this role, you must be a U.S. citizen eligible for a Top Secret security clearance, which requires a background investigation. Immediate family members must also be U.S. citizens.
IT and ITS applicants should have good arithmetic, writing and speaking skills, and should be able to use and understand computers. You should also be able to perform detailed work, keep accurate records and work well with others as part of a team. Important physical attributes include good manual dexterity and physical strength.
ITS applicants must be willing to serve aboard submarines.
General qualifications may vary depending upon whether you're currently serving , whether you've served before or whether you've never served before .
Part-Time Opportunities
Serving part-time as a Navy Reserve Sailor, your duties will be carried out during your scheduled drilling and training periods. During monthly drilling, Information Systems Technicians in the Navy Reserve typically work at a location close to their homes.
For annual training, you may serve anywhere in the world, including locations in the U.S., at bases overseas, or in areas where humanitarian needs are great.

Most of what you do in the Navy Reserve is considered training. The basic Navy Reserve commitment involves training a minimum of one weekend a month (referred to as drilling) and two weeks a year (referred to as Annual Training) - or the equivalent of that.
Information Systems Technicians in the Navy Reserve serve in an Enlisted role. Before receiving the ongoing professional training that comes with the job, initial training requirements must be met.
For current or former military Enlisted servicemembers, prior experience satisfies the initial Recruit Training requirement, so you will not need to go through Boot Camp again.
For those without prior military experience, you will need to meet the initial Recruit Training requirement by attending Boot Camp in Great Lakes, IL. This training course will prepare you for service in the Navy Reserve and count as your first Annual Training.

3. Crisis Response & Emergency Consultation (10%)
Respond to behavioral crises as available, implementing de-escalation and crisis intervention strategies
Provide real-time consultation to staff teams managing challenging situations
Coordinate with other organizational resources when unable to respond directly
Conduct post-incident debriefing within 24 hours of critical incidents, analyzing antecedents and identifying prevention strategies
Document all crisis responses and ensure learning opportunities are captured for system improvement
4. Collaboration & Communication (5%)
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, psychiatric consultations, and clinical reviews
Provide input in medication reviews to provide behavioral context and monitor medication effects on behavior
Collaborate with families, guardians, and external providers to ensure coordinated support
Document plan updates, assessment findings, and consultation notes in a timely manner (within 48 hours)
Facilitate extraordinary funding requests and identify staffing or resource needs to support participants
Share knowledge and updates across departments to promote organizational learning
5. Program Monitoring & Continuous Improvement (5%)
Propose system changes based on patterns, outcomes, or staff input
Participate in agency committees, quality improvement initiatives, and strategic planning
Engage in continuous professional development through conferences, webinars, and peer consultation
Stay current on evidence-based practices and emerging research in behavioral health and IDD support

There are times when the product being tested may be discussed in a private chat room that is opened by a market research firm
Write reviews as requested in the In-Home Usage Test Daily Schedule for each project
Requirements:
