For some companies, working for social impact is an afterthought, a hobby that employees can do in their spare time. At Blackbaud, it's their business. Blackbaud is a cloud-software company that is powering social change. They operate at the intersection between technology and social good, enabling humanitarian efforts around the world.
They make their mission a reality by doing three main things:
The company is built to do good. And the people that work for Blackbaud are too. Rachel Montgomery, Senior Director of Professional Services, had this to say about the fulfillment of working for a company with a mission like Blackbaud's can give: "The enthusiasm and sense of purpose that comes with a culture of doing good takes job satisfaction to a higher level. There is more focus on giving back and being socially conscious. It's in Blackbaud's DNA, and it's supported, encouraged and rewarded."
Blackbaud is, of course, a very socially conscious company, but they also have some internal values that help guide them in the work that they do. Those values are:
The company also believes heavily in investing in its people. It is the people that make this awesome company what it is, and Blackbaud knows this. That's why they go above and beyond in ensuring the opportunity for employee growth.
Kristen Nelson, Team Lead Sales, said, "We have a very employee-focused environment. Our managers and team leads will often discuss career development strategies with us and offer opportunities to connect with people who can give us firsthand information about a role or experience. To help us be as successful as possible, they suit our strengths and the company's needs."
In doing this, the company empowers, instead of instructs, its employees to be agents of goods.
Blackbaud has a great culture of giving back, but they also have a laid back culture of fun and inclusivity. Work-life balance is a real thing at Blackbaud, and employees are encouraged to take time off.
"Work-life balance is something that's very important to our employees, including myself, and I love that Blackbaud provides plenty of time to take off for any occasion, be it family trips, illness, or even if I just need to have some 'me' time," Johnathan Mesta, Senior Technical Recruiter, said.
There are all sorts of events that Blackbaud team members get to participate in throughout the year. The company prides itself on having an involved group of employees who want to hang out with each other outside of work.
Stefanie Greene, a Senior Manager, Human Resources, said, "We try to do at least one event per month that caters to all interest areas, whether that's our Pinewood Derby, our May the 4th Be With You Movie Marathon or Progressive Potlucks, where employees tour the office to pick up different parts of the meal. We also championed having a float in the Austin Pride Parade this year for the first time ever."
Blackbaud puts a major priority on employee wellness. They offer a ton of perks and benefits that backs that up. They offer competitive benefits that can provide protection, peace of mind, and savings.
"Health is key to being productive and successful. I appreciate all the outlets Blackbaud offers to achieve good health and wellness. Plus, who doesn't love to earn free prizes such as Apple Air Pods, HSA dollars, and so on?" Greene said.
What Greene is referring to is Blackbaud's B-Healthy Incentive, where employees earn rewards for participating in wellness programs. Another really awesome perk of being a Blackbaud employee is the opportunity to earn more vacation time from doing extra volunteer work.
Justin Womack, Senior Technical Account Manager, "Blackbaud supports us with community service days and awards us with more vacation time for volunteer hours spent outside of the office. We believe that employees should be engaged in life, not just work."
Some other benefits and perks are:
The Organization’s MissionOur mission is to provide cloud software, services, expertise, and data intelligence that empower and connect people to drive impact for social good.
