Part- Time Basic Skills Instructor - English Language Learner will provide instruction within our Learning Support Division. Position will be responsible for providing instruction in the areas of English Language Learning in accordance with the educational objectives of Blackhawk Technical College. Position will also develop, maintain, and upgrade curriculum in areas of instructional delivery. Will organize courses for non-native speakers with diverse activities and methods that cover all aspects of English language (speaking, writing, and comprehending). Instruction may held at any of the college locations or community partners and may include online instruction, embedded instruction in program courses, facilitating accelerated programs, and teaching daytime and evening courses.
Responsibilities
Provide instruction for assigned classes.
Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum.
Create a classroom environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism.
Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices.
Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Learning Resources staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment.

Remain current on Best Practices on GED curriculum content in the discipline and use of continuous quality improvement techniques to update content and foster current evidence-based program assessment and improvement.
Develop and update or revise course curriculum as needed to maintain program relevance.
Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught, and work cooperatively with members of other departments and programs in coordinating courses.
Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration.
Meet weekly office hours and other duties required to meet student, employer, and college needs.
Learning Support Manager & Department Chair in other duties as assigned.
Meet Wisconsin Technical College System professional development requirements through the Faculty Quality Assurance System.
Create individualized GED educational plans based on each student's needs.
Qualifications

This position is responsible for instruction in the Human Services Associate Degree program at the associate degree credit level. Instructors develop instructional strategies and curriculum as a regular part of their work.
This position reports to the Dean - School of Human and Protective Services.

1. 6. Function without direct supervision in a team environment with the ability to support a cohesive department atmosphere.
7. Comply with college and external policies, procedures, regulations and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and counseling, etc.
8. Assist students in developing work experience assignments such as clinical affiliations, work-study assignments, team projects, etc.
9. Maintain one of the following licenses issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services:
licensed psychologist

Knowledge and experience with substance use and addictive disorders.
10. Use data to continually revise curriculum to improve student learning.
11. Design and implement strategies to engage students in the learning process.
12. Integrate the use of technology into the teaching and learning process.
13. Plan and implement professional development strategies to continually improve teaching and professional experience.
14. Maintain certification as an instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge and skills needed to train entry-level professionals in the field of human services including the area of substance use and addictive disorders.
2. Knowledge of and experience with current educational methods and strategies; learner-centered instruction, assessment, evaluation; collaborative techniques; and strategies that address closing the gap in student access and achievement across race, gender, and disability.
3. Skill in the use of educational technology and alternative delivery methods to deliver high-quality instruction (i.e., online and hybrid course formats, course software such as Blackboard, video, interactive television, etc.).

Qualifications:
1. Master's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, counseling psychology, educational psychology or an equivalent degree.

3. Five years or more of clinical experience in the field of human services working with more than one client population. 4. Teaching experience in a community/technical college, four-year college or university with students of diverse backgrounds.

This position is responsible for instruction in the Small Business Entrepreneur program at the college level. This includes developing a relevant and progressive curriculum, designing and implementing effective learning strategies and environments, delivering instruction of high quality, assessing student learning, advising students, and participating in college service activities at the department, division and college levels.
This position reports to the Associate Dean - School of Business and Applied Arts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

1. Instructs students in the Small Business Entrepreneurship program which may include, but not be limited to the following curriculum areas: Operations Management, Small Business Marketing/Promotion, Small Business Development & Planning, and Internships.
2. Develops and plans appropriate instructional strategies, including alternative delivery strategies when appropriate including but not limited to hybrid, face-to-face and on-line course delivery.
3. Assists and advises students who have problems with assignments, tests, grades, course content, career concerns, and other academic matters.
4. Evaluates student performance and provides regular feedback in courses taught by the instructor.
5. Assists students in developing work experience assignments such as internships, work study assignments, team projects, etc.
6. Actively works with other personnel to develop strategies for student recruitment, retention, and success. This includes developing strategies aimed at the recruitment and retention of minority students.
7. Develops and maintains curriculum in a variety of non-traditional formats to meet student delivery needs in collaboration with department/ division staff; participates in instructional and curriculum articulation activities with other programs and other divisions of instruction.
8. Complies with college policies and directions regarding student testing, record keeping, advanced standing, providing grades on a timely basis, maintaining office hours for student assistance and academic advising, etc.
9. Maintains certification as an instructor with the Wisconsin Technical College System.
