Blender job description

This position will float between the BM and the WH. When working in the BM, the Bagger is responsible for manufacturing bird seed in accordance with standard operating procedures established at the blending mill. Will operate the processing equipment according to established standard operating procedures. In addition to bird seed manufacturing, they will perform housekeeping activities, maintenance and repair of equipment, and quality checks on seed and ingredients and bin inventory.

When working in the WH, this person will be performing a variety of warehouse duties, and is responsible for completing them in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner.
Essential Job Functions
Blending Mill
Fill, weigh and sew seed bags Stack filled bags on pallets Deliver product from the bagging area to appropriate warehouse location Rotate current inventory Complete appropriate paperwork accurately and in a timely manner Collect samples in accordance with sampling plan Perform routine housekeeping in all areas of the mill Dispose of scrap and waste in the proper receptacles Keep floors free from spills and debris Return tools to their proper storage place when finished with the tools Keep tools in proper working condition or report when tools need repair or replacement Perform preventive maintenance on equipment Perform routine housekeeping Operate forklift
Ability to lift 80 pounds, climb ladders and operate a pallet jack with 2,000 pounds of material


Warehouse
Gathers items to be picked, moved, or loaded into trailers. Use Forklift, Picker, Bendie, and Wrapper to pick product and secure it for shipping. Load and unload materials onto pallets in and out of semi-trailers. (By customer/order number) Prepares product for shipping by strapping, bracing, padding etc. to prevent product from being damaged during the shipping process. Maintain accurate inventory records, moves, picks, counts and other inventory functions as needed. Ensures that the correct product is shipped to the correct location. Ensures all paperwork is completed correctly and accurately. Responsible for personal picking product accurately from correct warehouse location and correct lot#. Prepare, clean, secure, and palletize product for shipping. Moves tractors and trailers around in the yard as needed. Look up locations, and item numbers as needed. Print labels for product, and/or customer shipments. Place RGA's in the correct location for processing. Attention to detail exhibited at all times. Use on-board computer and/or handheld to access the RF system for picking. Scan location labels, and item labels or UPC's to ensure picking is correct at all times. Keep warehouse neat and organized. Clean up broken product when found and record for inventory accuracy. Help with other warehouse functions as needed


Nonessential Job Functions
Assists with cleaning the warehouse and trailers. Cleans off product as needed.

Qualifications/Experience/Education
1-2 years of computer experience preferred. 1-2 years of forklift experience preferred. 1-2 year's previous warehouse experience preferred. High School degree or equivalent. Basic math skills


Personal Protective Equipment Required for this position
Steel toed safety shoes are required at all times.


Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.


Work Environment
There are no hazards in performing this position. Some heavy lifting up to 80 pounds may be required.


Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Hours of work are Monday through Friday with the possibility of working multiple shifts.

General Statement of Duties: Mixing and blending chemical formulations by following a batch sheet and detailed blending instructions.
Reports to: Blending Supervisor or QC Director.
Education:
Minimum of high school education or GED. Experience in a blending or chemical handling environment is also strongly desired.
Credentials: Must have a valid and legible T.W.I.C. card (Houston Facility only).
Skills and Abilities: Good physical condition, able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and able to work in extreme temperatures. DOT Hazmat certification is desirable as well as some type of spill response training. Good understanding of chemical hazards and safety. Ability to perform routine linear calculations and other basic math skills. Familiar with basic blending concepts and equipment such as pumps, valves, and kettles.
Responsibility and Authority:
Responsible for blending and mixing various chemical formulations using a blend sheet or recipe. Must be able to follow detailed procedures and learn new concepts quickly.
Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the batch area.
Monitor all tank activities and complete tank inventories daily.
Weigh and meter all blend components using volume meters and/or load cells. Ensure the proper operation of these measuring devices and report any concerns to supervisor.
Handle and pump a variety of chemicals from water to extremely hazardous items.
Use and be familiar with a variety of chemical pumps and material handling devices to transfer/transport blending materials.
Hook up tanks and hoses to blend and/or package the desired product. Works closely with line supervisors in assuring the proper tanks are connected to the packaging stations and to notify operators when levels are getting low.
Trace fill lines to ensure accurate hook-ups and transfers.
Monitor blending operations, mixing times, temperatures, and fill levels to ensure safety.
Use tank charts, gauge readings, and temperature conversion charts to determine proper filling volumes and safe fill levels for chemical storage tanks.
Be familiar with all products in storage tanks and their specific hazards. Take the necessary precautions and wear the appropriate PPE to ensure employee safety. This also includes keeping all storage tanks not currently being used locked and secured.
Maintain a Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with the requirements of ISO-9001:2015. This includes keeping and maintaining records of all blend activities.

Position SummaryThe Blender I role is critical to ensuring successful operation of High West Distillery. This role will report directly to the Blending Team Supervisor and will be responsible for executing daily blending tasks based on a team schedule. Important daily tasks include: blending whiskey for bottling, barrel filling for new make spirit maturation or finishing whiskey for the Barrel Select program. The Blender I role also plays an important part in maintaining inventories of maturing whiskey in numerous barrel aging warehouses and will be asked to pull samples for sensory and conduct inventory audits from time to time. The Blending Team is the hub of the High West organization so good attention to detail and a strong, team-oriented work ethic are a necessity.
Responsibilities
Blending for Bottling and BarrelingPerform spirit mingling activities to create High West's award winning blends Must set up and disassemble complex equipment including: filtration equipment, recirculation pumps, spirit transfer lines using process piping circuits. Perform several lab analyses on blend components and finished product to ensure conformation to quality standards Maintain good batch records according to team protocols and compliance standards Inventory and WarehousingPlays a critical role in team responsibility of barrel maturation warehouse inventory.Will be asked to conduct inventory audits and pull sensory samples Assist with team warehousing activities: delivery truck loading/unloading of blending components, complete monthly bulk spirit inventory, assist with completion of cleaning and maintenance checklists

Follow team SOPs and provide feedback on how process can be improved and streamlined Play an important role in the sensory evaluation of products at High WestFollow safe operating procedures: use appropriate, provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for all required tasks, support safety programs, provide feedback on improvement of current safety policies
