Your Role as a Dietary Services Aide
We are looking for a dedicated Dietary Services Aide to join our team and assist in preparing and serving food to residents, family members, visitors, and staff in a skilled nursing setting. This role ensures accurate meal service according to specific diets and helps maintain a clean and safe working environment.
What You'll Do:
Assist in food preparation for residents, visitors, and staff, including special activities.
Attend and serve food during in-service or staff meetings as requested.
Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment while maintaining sanitary conditions.
Set and clear tables before and after meals.
Maintain a safe and clean work area, following health and safety regulations.

Job Description
Job Summary:
The Nutrition Technician assigned to the Formula Lab prepares and delivers formulas, nutrition supplements, and tube feedings for inpatients of all ages. The nutrition technician also places formula requisitions, stocks, and maintains appropriate storage of formulas and donor breast milk. The technician will maintain good communication with management, purchasing, pharmacy, registered dietitians, nursing and other clinical staff.
Essential Job Functions:
Prepares standard infant and pediatric formulas for Lurie Children's according to recipes and to Formula Lab's Policy & Procedure Manual's guide for preparation, sterilization, labeling, cooling, storage, and delivery of formulas to patient units.
Prepares and delivers breastmilk fortifiers according to Formula Lab's Policy & Procedure Manual.
Prepares specialized infant formulas including metabolic/genetic, ketogenic and other products.
Labels all supplements and formulas individually prior to distribution, including all required information as outlined in the Formula Lab's Policy & Procedure Manual's guide.
Prepares infant cereals in sterile environment for speech department for thickening use, coordinates purchasing of infant cereal with purchasing department.
Cleans and sanitizes the Formula Lab area and equipment, work surfaces, etc., before and after usage as outlined in the Formula Lab's Policy & Procedure Manual.
Assembles nutrition supplements, bags and labels and delivers to Hospitality for subsequent delivery on food carts to patients.
Delivers nutrition formulas and donor breast milk to designated nourishment refrigerators on appropriate patient units.
Rotates stock in formula lab storage area using FIFO method; checks all labels for expiration date before use.
Follows proper sanitation procedures, attends mandatory in-services/meetings and adheres to all policies in accordance to departmental/hospital policies.
Uses clinical information system to print patient breastmilk and formula labels and production lists.
Reviews product inventory and places requisition orders for all infant and pediatric formulas, donor breast milk, human milk fortifiers and other related products using RQC Lawson.
Assesses formulary and tracks patient and product usage, providing feedback to manager as needed.
Communicates with dietitians, nurses, unit managers and physicians regarding problems with formula or breastmilk orders or storage.
Communicates with purchasing on ordering processes, stock issues, and reformulations.
Communicates with pharmacy and manager regarding after-hours formula processes.
Ensures that overnight cart inventory is stocked and available for after-hours use.
Performs job functions adhering to service principles with customer service focus of innovation, service excellence and teamwork to provide the highest quality care and service to our patients, families, co-workers and others.
Other job functions as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Completion of two years of college with at least one general mathematics course preferred.
Previous experience preferred. Ability to operate laboratory equipment desired.
Must be able to lift 30 pounds, stand/walk 95% of shift, work under pressure, and meet deadlines with others. Communicates with patients, patients' families and guests, nurses, environmental service, food service/clinical staff and food service leadership.
