The lead pharmacist serves as the team lead and Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for a designated pharmacy group, providing daily direction and support to pharmacists and pharmacy technicians. They manage prescription orders/verify medication orders, monitor patient drug therapies, and offer drug information and patient education/counseling. The lead pharmacist also takes on additional responsibilities, including regulatory compliance and clinical initiatives, and may assume the pharmacy leader's duties in their absence. The Chemo Pharmacy Technician will compound IVs, answer phone calls, maintain inventory, and complete all requirements for USP 797 and USP 800. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Compounds IVs accurately. Performs all safety checks (Appropriate labeling, visually inspect) when compounding IVs. Re-stocks IV Room carts appropriately. Maintains IV room in a clean, organized manner and ensures supplies are restocked and ordered as needed. Fills automated dispensing cabinets correctly by performing all safety checks (barcode scans and visual inspection) during restock process, clears return bins on a daily basis, and fills out restock reports with 99.8% accuracy. Follows and documents all cleaning procedures for the Ante and Clean Rooms on a daily basis. Completes the monthly clean before the last day of each month. Maintains inventory by placing daily orders, checking in the orders and managing the invoices. Reviews invoices for any back-ordered medications or supplies and assists the pharmacist in managing the back-order list. Completes all annual mandatory education required by facility. The Pharmacy Technician assists the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy. Assists the pharmacist in the performance of other Pharmacy Department duties in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Requirements ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTION/COMPETENCIES Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Fill new medication orders and cassettes and prepare for Pharmacist's review. Assist in reconciliation of missing orders and doses and complete required documentation. Deliver stock medications and place in appropriate storage location. Complete all assigned charging and crediting functions, including from miscellaneous sources. Prepackage medications, such as oral liquids, simple batch compounding, and starter doses for review. Stock medications to their appropriate locations, rotate stock as necessary and check outdates, and assist in maintaining adequate stock levels. Maintain assigned inspection section and check outdates monthly. Enter appropriate information-such as NDC, manufacturer, bar-code, lot #, expiration date-for each medication being packaged. Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, and Staff Pharmacist including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining work flow. Reports, immediately, prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adheres to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program. Performs other position related duties as assigned. Employees shall adhere to high standards of ethical conduct and will comply with and assist in complying with all applicable laws and regulations.
