Blistex was established in 1947 as a small family company.
Blistex was founded in 1947 as a small, family-run company in the business of developing and marketing lip care products, primarily in the United States.
Charles Arch (pronounced the German way, like and, Arc), incorporated Blistex as an Illinois company in 1947.
The pursuit of quality and customer service led us in 1967 to create our research and development facilities, as well as build our own manufacturing and corporate headquarters complex in Oak Brook, Illinois.
In 1967, he decided Blistex needed more attention to achieve its next growth spurt.
So, at the age of 57, he quit his full-time job at the Sheffield Co. in Broadview, which made collapsible metal tubes (similar to a toothpaste tube) for pharmaceutical products and devoted all his time to nurturing his fledgling company until his death in 1990.
