Bloomfield College company history timeline

1868

Bloomfield College was founded by the Presbyterian Church in 1868 as German Theological Seminary of Newark, New Jersey, to train German-speaking ministers.

1872

Originally located on the grounds of First German Presbyterian Church in Newark, N.J., the school moved to the former Bloomfield Academy on Franklin Street in Bloomfield in 1872, which was renamed Seibert Hall in honor of the school’s first president, Rev.

1912

In 1912 it absorbed the Presbyterian Hospital School of Nursing, founded in 1912 in nearby Newark.

1913

In 1913, the German Theological Seminary changed its name to Bloomfield Theological Seminary.
