Position Summary Description
The Cooperative Education Student - Load Forecasting is an entry-level learning opportunity designed for students pursuing a degree in data science, economics, statistics, engineering, mathematics, or a related field. Working under the guidance of experienced analysts, the Co-Op will support the team's efforts in electric load forecasting, data analysis, and Member services. This role offers hands-on exposure to applied analytics, forecasting models, and the energy utility industry.
The Co-Op will contribute to tasks such as data preparation, validation, and exploratory analysis that feed into Seminole's short- and long-term load forecasting. The position is structured to provide mentorship, skill-building, and a meaningful introduction to utility analytics and planning.
Essential Functions
* Assist in gathering, cleaning, and analyzing load, weather, and economic data.
* Support the maintenance of datasets and forecasting inputs for Seminole and the nine Member cooperatives.
* Perform exploratory data analysis and produce visualizations using Excel and other tools.
* Document work processes and learn how forecasts contribute to broader utility planning efforts.
* Participate in internal meetings and trainings to learn about utility load forecasting and rate analysis.
* Respond to basic data requests under supervision and with guidance from full-time staff.
* Help identify opportunities to improve forecasting inputs or model outputs as time and skill allow.
