This Fluids Systems Test Engineer will work within the Vehicle Test team, supporting our mission to return humans to the Moon and extend human presence permanently beyond the bounds of Earth. You will share in the team's impact of developing tests plans and procedures for vehicle operations and tests. Your role includes the complete life cycle of the system from design to operation. You will develop these tests while ensuring personnel safety during hazardous tests, meeting or exceeding schedule deliverables, managing vehicle test risks, and collaborate with internal and external suppliers to ensure our test approach meets requirements and risk posture of the program. During test execution, this role would act as lead test engineer for a given test with overall responsibility for safety of the test, the crew and the vehicle. Our Lunar Permanence team is developing our lunar landers to demonstrate core capabilities - including the BE-7 landing engine, precision landing sensors, and advanced integrated power and propulsion architecture. Responsibilities: * Develop test plans and procedures for vehicle level development, test beds, and qualification testing * Lead daily test operations, test consoles, direct technician work, and coordinate with internal and external customers * Work with the design and systems engineers to plan tests of the vehicle fluid and thermal systems, ensuring the tests are designed to verify the appropriate requirements * Design, procure, and install test support equipment; manage vendors and subcontractors * Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing * Reduce, analyze, and archive test data to support verification tasks * Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations * Find opportunities for safety improvements and be resourceful * Have frequent and transparent customer interactions on challenging technical issues * Work independently to determine and develop approaches to solutions * Participate in test readiness review, pre and post test briefings, and post test reviews. * Assist with procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns * Coordinate test crews, support equipment and vehicle configurations for testing * Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations Minimum Qualifications: * Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space! * BS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical engineering, Physics, or related technical discipline * 5+ years of fluids, pneumatic, or cryogenic or similar experience * Understanding of P&ID's, pressure systems, and associated GSE * Understand the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception process * Excellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skills * Experience working collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environment Desired: * Experience with space vehicle testing including fluids, thermal, leak, proof. * Experience with participating in NASA technical reviews * Experience with facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control System setup and operation * Experience with hazardous commodity operations (H2, O2, N2, He) * Experience with scripting (Python or other scripting language) Shift and Schedule: * 1st shift, Note: Ability to work multiple shifts and weekends with extended hours during critical test operations Travel: * Travel up to 25% during planning and probable travel of 75% during periods of integration and test to multiple offsite locations.
