Bluegrass Family Health company history timeline
The Woodford County Memorial Hospital was founded in 1904 by a group of ten church women in a three bed house on Macey Avenue in Versailles, Kentucky.
Throughout the years, Woodford Memorial Hospital grown. It wasn’t until 1963 that the current structure on Amsden Avenue was built to serve Woodford County.
In 1978 in Lexington, a small group of healthcare professionals and lay persons sensitive to the needs of the terminally ill, formed a Hospice program, Community Hospice of Lexington.
Bluegrass Community Hospital opens on January 2, 2001 under the direction of LifePoint Health.
The Hospice of the Bluegrass℠ Patient Census reaches over 800 served for June 2005, and continues to be 800-plus each month through the rest of the year.
In 2007, the hospital invested $1.7 million in a new medical office building that would house orthopedic services, rehabilitation services and two primary care physicians.
