ASU Prep Tempe - Powered by The Levitt Lab (TLL), is launching its inaugural class of 9-12 graders located in the heart of ASU's Tempe Campus. We are looking for Teachers (Guides) to make this concept a reality.
This program will feature:
-A focus on getting students to love learning, to think critically, and to build resilience.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities may be considered:
Minimum Bachelor's Degree, Master's degree preferred.
State Aligned Teaching Certificate (appropriate endorsements may be required depending on the area of instruction or have passed appropriate AEPA or NES proficiency exams), AZ State Teaching Cert, preferred.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Works collaboratively with a team of The Levitt Lab Guides to design, develop, and deliver seminar or live lesson instruction to support students in reading, writing, math, science, social studies, technology, college advising, and/or problem solving.
Delivers a uniquely student-centered approach focusing on student motivation, unblocking academic or social-emotional hurdles, and coaching students through student-driven learning.
Empowers students to take ownership of their learning and develop self-responsibility by facilitating goal-setting, progress asses monitoring, and self-reflection activities, while guiding them to navigate the unique opportunities and challenges of learning in a college campus environment.
Determines instruction techniques, strategies, methods and adapts curriculum and learning styles to meet and assess student's needs while questioning, prompting, or providing short explanations but rarely lecturing.
Maintains open lines of communication with parents/guardians about academic and discipline issues through various mediums.
Liaises for coordination of student recruitment and enrollment management utilizing knowledge of admissions, registration criteria, and deadlines.
Develops and manages individualized learning plans for students in the Guide Group to maximize college course taking in high school and preparation for college and career.
Design, construct and outline lessons, seminar, wonder sessions, and in-depth exploration materials.
Assesses and evaluates performance and progress of students in grades, progress reports and assessing comprehension of learning objectives.
Participates in extra-curricular activities such as New Family Orientation, information sessions, student clubs or preparations and coordination in demonstration for public demonstration of student learning.
Contributes to professional growth of self and colleagues including sharing and planning curriculum, staying current with educational trends, and continuing professional growth to meet the state and school requirements including current teaching certificates.
Works collaboratively to achieve the overall purposes of The Levitt Lab program.

Summary:
The Graduate Writing Tutor serves as the face of the Writing Center. They are primarily responsible for providing individual support for student writing in classes across the curriculum. A tutoring session consists of assessing a student's needs for the assignment, establishing and managing achievable goals for the session, and collaborating on a strategy for next steps after the session ends. Additional responsibilities include submitting post-session reports, attending bi-weekly workshops, participating in training sessions, and participating in special events during the semester. Consultants may also lead workshops for groups of students, participate in peer review sessions, and promote the Writing Center through in-class visits.
Essential Functions:
* Engage students in conversations to help develop their ideas.
* Be professional and friendly. Work with student writers and their texts to help them become familiar with the techniques that successful writers use to plan, draft, revise, and edit written documents.
* Assess attitudes about writing and set goals for consultations.
* Work with both scheduled students and drop-ins.
* Consistently and properly document student contact in the Writing Center's online scheduling system.
* Follow policies and procedures for at-work behavior, shift coverage, etc., as detailed in the staff handbook.
* Participate in staff meetings and training workshops.
* Conduct classroom visits to publicize writing center services.

Duties & Responsibilities:
· Coaching and guiding students to meet their academic goals
· Tutoring multiple subjects effectively
· Strengthening students' study habits and identifying how each student learns best
· Working with up to three students at a time
· Being engaging, nimble, and professional
· Keeping detailed records of tutoring sessions
· Attending team meetings and other Tutoring Club events
Minimum Qualifications:
· Bachelor's Degree
· Previous tutoring and/or teaching experience preferred but not required
· Reliable transportation
· Ability to work MOST of the following: Monday through Friday from 2:30 - 8:30 pm.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Meet with students on a one-to-one or small-group basis to give learning assistance.
Maintain a weekly schedule of available hours in the Student Education and Services Center and through the online tutoring services scheduling system for student appointments for tutoring in course content areas and/or learning strategies.
Support and develop writing skills, strategies, and grammar 101 techniques
Familiar with referencing styles (APA and MLA)
Excellent understanding of academic writing such as research and thesis papers in one or more disciplines
Keep regular and accurate records of tutoring sessions using the required software and/or relevant forms.
Visit applicable classes at least once to make contact with faculty members and to obtain any necessary course syllabi or materials.
Attend tutor-training sessions as required by the Learning Specialist or the Dean's Office.
Assist with additional duties as needed; for example, organizing materials, performing student data collection and data reporting, or other duties.
Provide requested reports and/or updates on tutoring.
EDUCATION:
Regionally accredited bachelor's degree or equivalent of combined education; master's degree is preferred.
Must be in good academic standing at a regionally accredited college or university.
Must have completed at least 12-18 units in the assigned content areas.
EXPERIENCE:
Must have a recommendation from a faculty member.
Completion of the applicable course or courses related to the subject matter with a grade of “B” or above.
Good English-language communication skills.
SKILLS:
Good interpersonal communication skills and ease in relating to people from varying educational, cultural, and social backgrounds.
Reliability and punctuality.
Demonstrates and maintains appropriate and professional behavior.

* Provide expert guidance to Learning Services Department tutoring services, contributing to professional development, learning techniques, and DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) practices. * Support the department's goals for higher retention and success under the direction of the assigned supervisor and Library Director.
* The position allows for up to 21 hours per week, not to exceed 980 hours in a year.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
