Key Duties
* Must understand water, sewer, and storm drain. Must be able to read profiles, pre-plan work, propose conflicts to other team members, and make sure the appropriate materials are available to multiple crews that are performing work on the project.
* Must be able to deal with the inspectors of the proper municipalities and coordinate the installations accordingly.
* Thorough understanding of work that is being performed. (Installing per design unless otherwise directed.)
* Must be able to read and understand contract obligations and cost reports, safety and manage work according to all 3 categories.
* Monitor, direct, and manage soft digging operation and coordinate with project engineers and project managers.
* Ordering/procuring materials for crews to be successful on their current projects. (trench boxes, pipe, fittings, tools etc.)
* Understand what it takes to complete the task that your crews are working on and plan ahead so they can continue to be productive.
* Verify that locates are fresh and up to date on site. Coordinate this with project engineer.
* Communicate with inspectors and create a good working relationship with them.
* Monitor crew compatibility and if issues arise take the proper actions to rectify the issue. (coaching, write up, crew movements, terminations (joint responsibility PM/SR PM/Division Manager))
* Understand production rates and communicate them with your crews.
* Monitor Procore to make sure that your crews are installing the proper quantities in a timely manner. (PM will do the same when keeping quantities up to date).
* Monitor Project Sight (Internal recordkeeping system) for pictures being taken of work progress.
* Take pictures and upload to Project Sight. (whenever going on a job)
* If we are responsible for a subcontractor treat them the same way you would your own crews. Understand their scope of work. Make sure they have what they need to complete their tasks. If issues arise inform PM/Sr. PM so they can rectify the situation.
* Be clear, concise, and confident with your crews.
* Manage up to 5+ crews on one project.

* Must be able to work the night shift or day shift while Utility Crews are performing work.

Blythe Brothers Asphalt is currently looking for a Roadway Quality Control Technician to join our growing team.
The Roadway Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring all paving operations to ensure that the asphalt product being placed meets all contract specifications. The roadway quality technician must work and coordinate with paving personnel and project inspectors to ensure that contract specifications are being met. Once the paving work is completed, the roadway quality control technician is responsible for obtaining core sample specimens from the roadway and delivering them to the quality control laboratory for density testing. Excellent record keeping skills and being able to communicate effectively is a must for this position. This position will require availability from the candidate to work both day and night shifts, as well as weekends. Typical hours range from 40 to 70+ hours per week.

Knowledge of proper use of equipment, hand and power tools, materials and supplies used in highway and heavy construction work in a safe manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life.

Physical Demands
Regularly works near moving machinery/tools which requires good manual dexterity and multi-limb coordination, must be able to move quickly and have excellent stamina.
Must be able to lift, push, pull or carry objects (over 80 lbs.), use legs, hips, shoulders, abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue. This position will require the technician lift a core saw from the bed of a pickup truck and place it on the asphalt. This saw weighs approximately 80 lbs.
Must be able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time and climb a ladder. This position will require the candidate to stand on hot asphalt mat for long periods of time.
Ability to perform free of drugs and alcohol; including prescription drugs that may hinder the ability to perform the essential functions of the job.

Process Management: 10%
Prepare and be responsible for Hand-Off Meetings with Project Managers & Field Staff
Participate in project “Kick-Off” meetings with Operations Staff
Participate in Post Project Review Meetings with Operations Staff
Coordinate, supervise, and review work of assigned department personnel to ensure accuracy and completeness.
Operational Management: 90%
Ensure In-House Procedures are being Followed (Bid Books, Take-Off Forms, Sub/Supplier Solicitation, Minority Solicitation, Etc.)
May assist the Chief Estimator in coordination of overall corporate estimating functions, including staff training.
Assign work to subordinates, direct and review their assignments, and be responsible for accuracy and completeness of estimates prepared by subordinates.
Review, discuss and incorporate similar past project knowledge, i.e safety concerns, productions, crew sizes, job costs into current job cost analysis.
Review proposal specifications, drawings and geotechnical information, labor and material requirements, prepare itemized lists, and attend pre-bid meetings to determine scope of work and contents of estimate.
Prepare estimates by calculating complete takeoff of scope of work. Determine cost effectiveness. Accurately quantify and price the labor, equipment, materials and subcontractors needed to perform the work.
Write detailed scopes of work including pertinent terms and conditions, inclusions and exclusions for bid proposals.
Interface with Owners and Architects/Engineers to provide necessary price, proposal and value management information.
Follow up on submitted proposals and be prepared to discuss in weekly estimating meeting.
Support Operations Staff as required
Maintain knowledge of relevant software, i.e. takeoff, estimate/bid creation, scheduling, subcontractor solicitation, office management
Research future opportunities and projects.
Attend relevant industry events and participate in business development with Owners, Architects/Engineers, vendors and other contractors.
When feasible, visit current project sites to obtain knowledge of productions and means and methods of construction activities utilized by field personnel.
Qualifications:
5 to 8 years direct work experience in an estimating capacity, including all aspects of a bid preparation.
Thorough knowledge of company procedures and estimating techniques.
Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts, plus ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort essential.

Primary Job Responsibilities
Participate in scope reviews and handoff meetings
Partner with the Operations team and Estimating team to finalize the contract scope
Maintains a comprehensive understanding of all contract requirements to ensure project and subcontractors stay in compliance with all aspects of the executed contract
Coordinate with accounting to provide Bond and COI as required by the Contract
Conduct Project Meetings as required by internal processes (Kickoff, Pre-construction Meeting with Owner, Project Reviews, Exit Strategy, Post Project Review)

Issue Purchase Orders and Prepare Subcontracts for execution

General Description A Dozer Operator is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs on construction projects any combination of the duties described more fully, below. A Dozer Operator is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Dozer. The Dozer Operator levels and scoops soil and controls the direction and angle of the equipment to move rocks and debris.

General Description The Electrical Maintenance Technician will be responsible for the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical components within asphalt plants and aggregate crushing facilities. * Installation, troubleshooting, and maintaining PLC's, HMI interfaces, motors, drives, other electrical components.
* Test and repair of various electrical equipment.
* Assist in facility startup and new equipment installations.
* Involvement in the planning and execution of new wiring installations or upgrades.

Qualification Requirements

Asphalt Distributor Operator General Description An Asphalt Distributor Operator is an hourly-rated skilled craft position that performs on construction projects any combination of the duties described more fully, below. An Asphalt Distributor Operator typically performs a wide variety of tasks, transferring from one task to another as the work flow dictates. An Asphalt Distributor Operator consists of operating an asphalt distributor by applying specialize emulsions and/or liquid AC to roadways.
Key Duties
* Understand and execute paving procedures while following instructions to meet the standards of the project
* Commercial Driver License (CDL) A or B with N-tanker & X-hazmat endorsement as well as an acceptable driving record
* Drives and operates distributor truck equipped with tank to spray asphalt emulsions and/or liquid AC on road surfaces
* Connects hose from storage tank to truck tank and moves lever to fill tank with asphalt liquids
* Regulate burner to heat liquid and start auxiliary pump
* Snap or screw on spray bars to attain required width of spray
* Turn valve to regulate flow of material at specified rate and adjust levers to adjust height of spray bar from road surface
* Monitor flow gages, tachometer and temperature gauge to insure uniform distribution
* Perform daily safety checks of fluid levels on oil, water, fuel and inspections for leaks and damage to machine before operation
* Responsible for daily maintenance of equipment to remain in proper and safe working order
* Responsible for notifying supervisor if equipment needs to be repaired
* Understand and execute different emulsions and/or liquid AC
* Shifts may vary according to project demands
* Perform incidental work items and duties included within other crafts

Position Summary:
The Area Safety Manager will prioritize the safety, health, and welfare of our employees. Faulconer believes in LEADING safety, not MANAGING safety. Working in a team environment, the Area Safety Manager will influence safe behaviors through relationship-building and coaching other employees. Maintains Faulconer's Core Values at all times.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
* Site safety inspections.
* Accident investigation.
* Safety training (including excavation, confined space, fall protection, material handling, ladder use, concrete, heavy equipment & road work).
* Develop AHA's to be submitted to the General Contractor and other officials.
* Attend any safety meetings that are required by Faulconer Construction and the general contractor.
* Review plans and drawings to prepare plans and assist in planning activities.
* Develop toolbox talks that are specific to our latest trends and industry trends.
* Perform Root Cause Analysis and develop lessons learned to distribute to field employees.
* Safety jurisdictions include:
* Occupational Safety & Health Administration
* U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
* Department of Transportation (NC)
Position Expectations:
This position is required to visit job sites. You will be working outside approximately 75% of the time. This includes working in extreme cold and heat. Candidates should be able to lift approximately 40lbs. Though rare, travel to other Faulconer areas and overnight stays may be required.
Preferred Qualifications
* 1-3 years as a site safety manager for multiple employer construction sites
* Multiple Trade Experience (Concrete, Cranes, Heavy Civil, Clearing, Rigging, Landscaping, etc.)
* OSHA 500 Certification is preferred but not required. If you do not have an OSHA 500 certification, you must be able to obtain it within 6 months of employment.
* CPR/FA Instructor Certification is preferred but not required. As with the OSHA 500, you must be able to obtain it within 6 months of employment.
* DOT Roadway experience
* Valid driver's license with a favorable driving record
* Ability to pass drug screen
* Ability to pass a federal, state and local background check
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
* Employee must be eligible to work in the United States.
* Drug screens are required after an offer is accepted and continued employment is based on initial drug screen and any future/random drug screens administered.
* A background check will be required.
* A confidentiality agreement may be required.
* Driving records may be required.
* Further clearance may be required by clients (i.e. government or military site access).

General Description The Construction Engineer is an entry level engineering position in the heavy highway/civil and site development fields of construction. The Construction Engineer will report to the Project Engineer on a jobsite. * Produce labor and equipment cost reports to monitor production costs, drive billing, budgets and costs to complete.
* Produce daily, weekly and monthly quantities to monitor production, drive management reports and reconcile owner quantities using Excel and SAP.
* Assists Field Engineer and Project Engineer in updating project schedule in P6.
* Initiates purchase orders, shop drawings, submittals and material deliveries.
* Prepare the forecasted final cost reports; Bi-monthly accumulation of costs and quantities for comparison of an as-bid to as-built. Report in SAP format for corporate presentation.
* Submittals - Developing and tracking.
* Drafting - Field sketches, interpreting contract drawings for use in the field.
* Daily Logs - gather and compile daily diaries to include photo log.
* Maintain Excel Tracking Logs - Change Orders, RFI's and Claims.
* Produced meeting minutes during construction meetings.
* Assist in the Preparation of monthly cost and revenue projections, for materials, equipment and labor in Excel.
* Prepare and reconcile owner pay requisitions.
* Prepare vendor and subcontractors pay requisitions.
* Prepare and monitor CPM schedule for project, utilizing P6 Scheduling Software.
* Management of quantities in SAP cost control program.
* Help to ensure that project construction conforms to design specifications and applicable North Carolina/South Carolina codes
* Evaluate preconstruction field conditions
