General Description The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating equipment in a safe and effective manner on jobsites. Heavy equipment may include, but is not limited to: front-end loaders, trackhoe, bulldozer, GPS dozer, roller, off-road truck, mini-excavator, excavator, skidsteer. Other duties may be assigned based on specific job needs. Must be able to read profiles, pre-plan work, propose conflicts to other team members, and make sure the appropriate materials are available to multiple crews that are performing work on the project. Must be able to deal with the inspectors of the proper municipalities and coordinate the installations accordingly. Thorough understanding of work that is being performed. (Installing per design unless otherwise directed.) Must be able to read and understand contract obligations and cost reports, safety and manage work according to all 3 categories. Monitor, direct, and manage soft digging operation and coordinate with project engineers and project managers. Ordering/procuring materials for crews to be successful on their current projects. (trench boxes, pipe, fittings, tools etc.) Understand what it takes to complete the task that your crews are working on and plan ahead so they can continue to be productive. Verify that locates are fresh and up to date on site. Coordinate this with project engineer. Communicate with inspectors and create a good working relationship with them. Monitor crew compatibility and if issues arise take the proper actions to rectify the issue. (coaching, write up, crew movements, terminations (joint responsibility PM/SR PM/Division Manager)) Understand production rates and communicate them with your crews. Monitor Procore to make sure that your crews are installing the proper quantities in a timely manner. (PM will do the same when keeping quantities up to date). Monitor Project Sight (Internal recordkeeping system) for pictures being taken of work progress. Take pictures and upload to Project Sight. (whenever going on a job) If we are responsible for a subcontractor treat them the same way you would your own crews. Understand their scope of work. Make sure they have what they need to complete their tasks. If issues arise inform PM/Sr. PM so they can rectify the situation. Be clear, concise, and confident with your crews. Manage up to 5+ crews on one project. Requirements Need a minimum of 5 years of experience with Storm Drain, Sewer, and Waterlines Must be able to work the night shift or day shift while Utility Crews are performing work. Process involves placing raw aggregate and liquid asphalt materials through the mixing drum to be stored in silos until ready for load-out on trucks for delivery to job sites. Blythe Brothers Asphalt is currently looking for a Roadway Quality Control Technician to join our growing team. The Roadway Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring all paving operations to ensure that the asphalt product being placed meets all contract specifications. The roadway quality technician must work and coordinate with paving personnel and project inspectors to ensure that contract specifications are being met. Once the paving work is completed, the roadway quality control technician is responsible for obtaining core sample specimens from the roadway and delivering them to the quality control laboratory for density testing. Excellent record keeping skills and being able to communicate effectively is a must for this position. This position will require availability from the candidate to work both day and night shifts, as well as weekends. Typical hours range from 40 to 70+ hours per week. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of proper use of equipment, hand and power tools, materials and supplies used in highway and heavy construction work in a safe manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life. Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions. Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks according to work schedule. Ability and willingness to communicate, follow instructions and transmit written and oral instructions. Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency. The primary responsibility will be to manage all financial aspects of the Asphalt Division. The Roadway Quality Control Technician is responsible for monitoring all paving operations to ensure that the asphalt product being placed meets all contract specifications. The roadway quality technician must work and coordinate with paving personnel and project inspectors to ensure that contract specifications are being met. Once the paving work is completed, the roadway quality control technician is responsible for obtaining core sample specimens from the roadway and delivering them to the quality control laboratory for density testing. Excellent record keeping skills and being able to communicate effectively is a must for this position. This position will require availability from the candidate to work both day and night shifts, as well as weekends. Typical hours range from 40 to 70+ hours per week. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of proper use of equipment, hand and power tools, materials and supplies used in highway and heavy construction work in a safe manner to minimize the risk of injury, property damage or loss of life. Knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions. Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks according to work schedule. (PM will do the same when keeping quantities up to date). * Monitor Project Sight (Internal recordkeeping system) for pictures being taken of work progress. * Take pictures and upload to Project Sight. (whenever going on a job) * If we are responsible for a subcontractor treat them the same way you would your own crews. Understand their scope of work. Make sure they have what they need to complete their tasks. If issues arise inform PM/Sr. PM so they can rectify the situation. * Be clear, concise, and confident with your crews. * Manage up to 5+ crews on one project. Requirements * Need a minimum of 5 years of experience with Storm Drain, Sewer, and Waterlines * Must be able to work the night shift or day shift while Utility Crews are performing work.
