Bmsc company history timeline

1926

In 1926, a duplicate cable was laid to the Fiji Islands and a new concrete cable office building was built below the original building.

1950

The Canadian government took over the Cable Station in 1950 and the Canadian Overseas Telecommunication Corporation was formed.

1970

The October 1970 issue of Spokes also contains the names of the forty foundation members of the club.

During early 1970 Corin Motors, the Renault agent in Canberra was selling quite a number of the new Renault R10 sedans.

1971

The motorsport calendar for the first six months of 1971 was listed in Spokes as follows:

In 1971, development began to convert the site into a research station.

1977

The first SPOKES magazine of the BMSC was dated August 1977 and contained the Minutes of the General meeting dated 5 July 1977 at which the name change was proposed and carried.

The event was first held in 1977 and has been held most years since.
