BOC International company history timeline

1994

In 1994, the bank became the first in China to issue bonds to the United States market.

1995

1995: BOC begins issuing notes in Macau.

1998

In 1998, BOC extended its range of services again, founding BOC International Holdings Ltd. in Hong Kong as an investment banking specialist.

2001

2001: BOC merges 12 Hong Kong banks and a credit card subsidiary to form Bank of China Hong Kong.

2003

As part of the move toward listing publicly, BOC continued to push down its nonperforming loan levels--selling an additional 10 percent stake in BOC Hong Kong in December 2003 in a cash-raising effort.

2004

In April 2004, for example, BOC announced its intention to open a branch office in Bahrain, marking its entry into the Middle East market.

2006

BOC was listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in June 2006, and on the Shanghai Stock Exchange the following month, becoming the first Chinese commercial bank to launch an A-Share and H-Share initial public offering and achieve a dual listing in both markets.

2008

Designated sole, official banking partner of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games

2022

Announced as the first official partner of the 2022 Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games
