You will be responsible for all aircraft low observable outer mold line structures, materials and applications. Mix and apply sealants, gap fillers and any other required processes prior to paint which may require the use of heating devices. Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is looking to add a **Communications Hardware Engineer (Electronics Engineer)** to our team in **Palmdale, CA** ! This position is in our Avionics Integration West organization.
This position will be responsible for working within an Integrated Product Team (IPT) structure to perform engineering capture, build, integration, test, and maintenance of communications hardware in laboratory and field settings. This includes the specification and usage of specialized test and support equipment.
**Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:**
+ Design of rack-based communication, test, support equipment, and cabling to meet system requirements, to include:
+ Understanding of and the ability to perform electrical signal and power analysis at the rack level
+ Developing engineering drawings in accordance with ASME and IEEE standards, including rack assembly drawings, interconnect wiring diagrams, and custom cable assemblies
+ Developing Bill of Material to support build of systems
+ Specification of rack cabling (RF, optical, 1553, power) and cooling systems
+ Developing and performing System Verification procedures
+ Installing communication, test, and support equipment in lab and field environments
+ Providing lab, site integration, test, and maintenance support
+ Participating in troubleshooting systems to resolve complex issues, while interacting and coordinating with responsible communications engineers responsible for sustaining communication sub-system
+ Preparing presentations, briefing stakeholders, and providing project status updates
**The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility** . There is no remote / hybrid / telework available for this position. This position requires the ability to **travel up to 25% of the time and is expected to work a 4/10 work schedule. (10 hours per day; 4 days per week.)**
**Basic Qualifications:**
+ Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline and 2 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master's degree in a STEM discipline and 0 years of related engineering experience
+ Must be physically able to move up to 50 pounds
+ Must have color vision to identify cables and wires
+ Working knowledge of governing and industry standards to include MIL-STD-1553, MIL-STD-1760, MIL-STD-100G, and ASME Y14.100
+ Ability to support up to 25% travel
+ Active DoD **Secret** clearance with investigation date within the last 5 years and the **ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance**
+ Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP). This SAP must be obtained within a reasonable of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs and prior to commencement of employment.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Active DoD Top Secret clearance with investigation date within the last 5 years and ability to obtain and maintain access to Special Programs (SAP)
+ Current SAP access to this program
+ Working knowledge of various communication protocols including Ethernet, 1553 bus systems and FibreChannel
+ Experience with drawing and release tools - (CATIA V5, Visio, Teamcenter Enterprise PLM).
+ Working knowledge of communication engineering theory and RF systems
+ Experience with production of complex systems
+ Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Electrical Engineering.
Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
