Mentor inspectors, as needed. Use statistical process control (SPC) symbols and tools along with correct interpretation of associated control plans and charts. NONDESTRUCTIVE TEST Perform daily, weekly and monthly equipment and material checks. Perform pre-inspection and post-inspection cleaning. Set-up equipment and conduct tests of a semi-complex scope. Leads the development and monitoring of NDT related training plans including continual and re-current training Liaisons with engineering, inspection and other personnel as required to assist in researching and solving non-destructive test process problems. Acts as a mentor to NDT personnel and works closely with the Training and Development Specialist where necessary. Maintains personal qualifications as stated in the appropriate company process. Moves between production assignments that utilize multiple skills endorsements as needed to support production requirements. Responsible for observing all applicable safety requirements and reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions. As required, may be assigned to perform selected duties of the NDT Inspector to meet operational goals. Carries out other duties as assigned. Position Requirements: Strong planning, organizational, leadership, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills. Minimum level III in one NDT method Knowledgeable in and understanding of inherent and non-inherent discontinuities found in materials. Knowledgeable in the Workplace Health & Safety requirements. Maintain internal non-destructive test process approval. Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints Proficient in technical writing. Excellent decision-making skills to ensure compliance to all customer, regulatory and company requirements. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (unassisted) for approximately 25% of the average work day. Regularly required to sit and stand for prolonged periods. Working knowledge of production management computer system and other related internal control systems. Key Responsibilities: Gate Operations: - Greet and direct incoming and outgoing trucks, verifying necessary documentation and ensuring compliance with terminal rules and regulations. - Accurately record and update truck and container information in the terminal's computer system. - Issue gate passes, permits, and other required documentation to authorized personnel. - Coordinate with security personnel to ensure the safety and security of the terminal premises. Documentation and Recordkeeping: - Collect and review shipping documents, such as bills of lading, delivery orders, and customs paperwork, to ensure accuracy and completeness. - Enter data from shipping documents into the terminal's computer system accurately and efficiently. - Maintain organized and up-to-date records of truck and container movements, permits, and other relevant documentation. - Generate reports on gate activities, truck turn times, and any other requested metrics. Communication and Coordination: - Communicate effectively with truck drivers, customers, and other terminal personnel to facilitate smooth and efficient operations. - Coordinate with yard personnel to ensure the availability and proper placement of containers for loading and unloading. - Collaborate with customer service representatives to address customer inquiries, resolve issues, and provide timely updates. - Assist in coordinating with external stakeholders, including rail carriers, trucking companies, and regulatory authorities. Safety and Compliance: - Enforce safety protocols and regulations within the gate area, ensuring compliance by all personnel and visitors. - Monitor and report any security concerns, damages, or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel. - Stay updated on industry regulations and best practices related to intermodal rail terminal operations. - Assist in conducting safety and security training for terminal staff and contractors, as required. Customer Service: - Provide exceptional customer service to truck drivers, ensuring a positive experience during their interactions with the terminal. - Address and resolve customer concerns or complaints promptly and professionally. - Assist customers in locating containers and providing necessary information or assistance. Qualifications and Skills: - High school diploma or equivalent. - Valid Driver's license - Previous experience as a gate clerk or in a similar role within the intermodal rail or logistics industry is preferred. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping. - Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment. - Proficiency in using computer systems and data entry software. - Basic knowledge of transportation and logistics operations. - Familiarity with relevant safety and security regulations. - Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
