  • Senior Data Analyst

    Gigs, Inc. 4.3company rating

    San Francisco, CA jobs

About Gigs At Gigs, we're building the operating system for mobile services-a platform that lets tech companies embed global connectivity into their products effortlessly. Just as Stripe lets any business add a payment button in seconds, Gigs empowers platforms to weave in connectivity-bridging the traditional world of telecom with modern tech. From fintechs launching mobile services to HR platforms offering work phone plans, we automate provisioning and remove telecom complexity. Our team of around 100 people across the US and Europe, backed by nearly $100 million in funding from Ribbit Capital, Google, and Y Combinator. As one of the fastest‑growing tech companies, bringing together early‑stage engineers, product builders, and business athletes from companies like Stripe, Airbnb, and Shopify. We're tackling deep technical and regulatory challenges to make connectivity truly seamless. If you're driven by curiosity, creativity, and the chance to shape the future of telecom, we'd love to hear from you. The Role As a Senior Data Analyst, you'll be a foundational part of our data team - shaping how data is modeled, shared, and turned into insight across the company. You'll join a team of 3 spread across data engineering, analytics engineering and insight generation. This will be the second dedicated Senior Data Analyst in the team. What You Will Do Collaborate cross‑functionally with teams like Finance, Growth, Product, and Operations to understand their needs and ensure data is actionable and impactful. This could mean delivering a dashboard, an insight, or a data model powering automation. Be a thought partner on how we define core metrics, track business performance, and build trust in data across Gigs. Empower internal teams by leveling up power users and educating data consumers, through clear communication, thoughtful documentation, stakeholder collaboration, and occasional training sessions. Build the analytics content that matters, both internally and externally. You'll work with the Product team to identify key customer‑facing metrics and play a crucial role in delivering those insights via dashboards and data products. Not every data point is available yet. We all work end to end. Work with product to define new data points, translate messy source data into clean, reliable models that power dashboards, metrics, and product decisions. You will work with a modern event‑based data platform across Bigquery, Fivetran, dbt, dagster, Lightdash and Hex. What We Are Looking For 8+ years of experience in analytics with a focus on end‑to‑end delivery. Having worked closely with Finance stakeholders, Product in a B2C context (to support customer launches and ongoing implementations) or experience with customer‑facing data products are strong plus points. A strong understanding of data modeling best practices (e.g. dimensional modeling, testing, documentation). Skilled at building alignment and managing expectations with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders. Experience translating complex business requirements into well‑structured data pipelines and models. Familiarity with Git, CI/CD, Python and strong SQL. A product mindset: you care about usability, performance, and building for scale. You see the content you deliver as a product and are interested in having those being used. This is not your first rodeo. You have worked in small and early data teams, grown along side them and worked in larger teams and data platforms. You've seen what works and doesn't in both and are looking to apply this in your next role. Clear communicator - you can work cross‑functionally and explain complex topics to non‑technical stakeholders Strong bias for action: You move quickly, deliver incrementally, and aren't afraid to ship v1. You identify what's missing and work with stakeholders to fill the gaps. Experience working in fast‑moving startups or remote‑first teams is a plus. Before You Apply The truth is, what we're building isn't easy. We expect a lot, and operate with urgency and ownership. This won't be the right place for everyone, and that's okay. This role probably isn't a fit if: You need a lot of structure, or layers of process to do your best work You prefer to specialize narrowly and wait for direction rather than taking initiative You're uncomfortable making decisions with imperfect information or wearing multiple hats You're looking for a “big company” setup - we're still building many things for the first time But if you're excited by the idea of building from zero, working with passion, and leaving your mark on something that matters - we'd love to meet you. Work at Gigs At Gigs, we know that different work styles and teams thrive in different environments. Some work best remotely, while others rely on in‑person collaboration to spark creativity and drive execution. We're remote‑friendly by design, but we also offer hubs for those who need the energy and focus that only in‑person collaboration can bring. Gigs Pads: Our hubs in San Francisco, London, Amsterdam, and Berlin are vibrant spots where Gigsters connect, collaborate, and create together. Gigs Republic: Twice a year, our entire company comes together to strengthen bonds, align on big ideas, and share experiences that fuel our culture and ignite growth. What We Offer At Gigs, we believe in rewarding excellence. We offer competitive compensation and stock options because we see you as a true partner in our growth. We also provide stipends for your home office or work setup, a budget for learning and development to fuel your career, and of course, a free phone and international data plan. Headquartered in New York City, Guardian US is an entirely digital operation that seeks to engage US readers by combining the Guardian's international coverage with US voices and expertise. Core coverage areas include the climate emergency, economic and racial inequality, digital privacy and much more. Guardian US launched in 2011 and today has bureaus in New York, Washington DC, New Orleans and Los Angeles. The Guardian is an independently owned, mission-driven organization, funded by readers around the globe. It's the talent, energy and commitment our people bring to The Guardian that make us who we are. Across our business we have some of the most creative thinkers in media and beyond: award winning journalists, cutting edge commercial teams, digital talent and more. Role: Data reporter, deleted data project Department: Special series team Reports to: Senior editor, special series Location: Flexible Hybrid/Remote/In-Person: Hybrid Terms and conditions: One-year contract, NewsMedia Guild role Salary: $110,000 - $115,000 The Guardian is seeking an ambitious, rigorous and creative data reporter to help develop a new project focused on how critical government data and information is being deleted-and what the consequences are. From the departments of education and housing to NOAA, NASA and the EPA, crucial government data and thousands of webpages have been removed since the start of the year. Signage at national parks and museums is being reviewed and changed. This information tells the story of the US, including the state of inequality and injustice, and can help direct attention and funding to those most at risk from climate disaster, poor health, underinvestment, and more. If this data ceases to exist, or is altered, some experts believe that inequalities could become further entrenched. The data reporter will help conceptualize the project and tell stories about the data that is being altered or deleted. Stories could involve recreating a valuable dataset that has been lost, or continuing to track what it tracked. Or they could highlight the work of researchers, scientists, archivists and librarians as information and history “defenders.” The ideal data reporting candidate will have both exceptional computer assisted reporting skills, who has collaborated on or led big data reporting projects. We want someone who has an eye towards bringing out the stories in big, complex datasets. Key responsibilities Work with the data editor, editor of the movement building project, and graphics reporter to plan and execute reporting projects Lead the data reporting for the project through developing ideas, pitching stories, and reporting out the project Gather human and data sources for complex, quantitative analyses Partner with graphics and print journalists to brainstorm ambitious story presentations Handle large, complex datasets, help create replicable workflows, big data storage and ETL processes as necessary. More important than a single technology or toolkit is the ability to learn what is needed About you 5+ years of experience preferred You can identify and pitch great stories focusing on efforts to disappear and alter data central to climate, race and inequality, gender and sexuality, or other topics Must be fluent in modern data reporting tools and techniques. Fluency in a data analysis language is a must. Additional skills include some experience with graphics reporting and a familiarity with graphics workflows, either in datawrapper, Svelte, or Adobe Illustrator You are just as comfortable picking up the phone to interview sources as you are at doing complex quantitative analysis. You can find the stories within the data and interpret the meaning of the patterns you are uncovering Partner with graphics and print journalists to brainstorm ambitious story presentations Not every data reporter solely leads big projects, but experience with leadership skills are a plus, as is experience with traditional reporting and developing sources within the world of government and academia How to apply We know there are great candidates who might not check all these boxes or who possess important skills we haven't thought of. If that's you, we encourage you to apply and tell us about yourself. Please share a resume and short cover letter. In your cover letter, please highlight projects you have worked on or led and how you contributed to the development and reporting of the story. Applications without work samples will not be considered. All roles at the Guardian are open for everybody to apply. It is important to us that you feel supported and comfortable throughout your recruitment process, in order to perform your best. Please let us know if there are any changes we could make to the application process to make it easier and more comfortable for you. Please email the recruiter listed on the job posting or at ****************************** to discuss further so we can work with you to support you through your application.
