Your Role & Responsibilities
In this role, you will focus on:
Infrastructure Design - Develop engineering designs for site grading, drainage, utilities, and roadway systems for residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments.
Master Planning - Collaborate on large-scale master planning efforts, integrating land use, transportation, and environmental considerations to create cohesive community plans.
Regulatory Compliance - Ensure designs comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including zoning codes, environmental standards, and permitting requirements.
Client Interaction & Relationship Building - Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, maintaining strong relationships, and ensuring client satisfaction.
Project Coordination - Work closely with architects, developers, planners, surveyors, and other professionals to coordinate project efforts and deliver integrated solutions.
Construction Support - Provide support during the construction phase, including reviewing shop drawings, responding to RFIs, and conducting site visits to ensure design intent is met.
What We Are Looking For
Professional Experience - 3-7 years of experience in civil engineering, with a focus on land development or site design.
Education - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
Licensure - Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required; Professional Engineer (PE) licensure preferred.
Technical Skills - Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-HMS and other relevant engineering software.
Knowledge of Land Development - Understanding of land development processes, including site analysis, zoning, permitting, and construction documentation.
Strong Communication Skills - Ability to effectively communicate technical information to clients, team members, and regulatory agencies.

* Draft final house location surveys from survey crew field notes and personal field measurements of building improvements.
* Compute horizontal and vertical positions of planned buildings, streets, curbs, etc. for stakeouts. Compile and complete.
* Check record plats for completeness and accuracy prior to submitting for review.
* Submit plots to various municipal / jurisdictional agencies for review.
* Use knowledge of ALTA Land Title Surveys, topographic surveys, boundary surveys, residential and commercial construction stakeout procedures and practices when performing work.
* Perform a variety of complex computations for traverse, record plats, boundary surveys, construction stakeouts, horizontal control, etc.
* Conduct research using Google Earth and/or GIS and data from other agencies.
* May complete land development related surveys as well as boundary surveys, ALTA surveys, topographic surveys, construction layout, and subdivision layout (traditional land development work).

Woolpert is hiring a Field Crew Chief to join our dynamic Survey Team at our growing Albuquerque office. The Geospatial Specialist is a senior-level technical position within the survey and geomatics discipline at the forefront of transformative projects that directly impact advanced manufacturing and infrastructure development programs. The survey work will primarily support projects on-site for construction and facility monitoring of buildings and equipment. The Senior Survey Crew Chief also plays a pivotal role in mentoring instrument operators, junior surveyors, and driving project success.

What You Will Do:
Lead and manage survey crew in conducting complex field surveys, including boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.
Operate and maintain advanced survey instruments such as total stations, 3D laser scanning systems, GNSS equipment, levels, and data collectors, ensuring equipment is calibrated and functioning correctly.
Reconnaissance, setting, establishment, and management of 2D and 3D high accuracy control marks across project sites, interior and exterior to buildings.
Prepare comprehensive field notes, sketches, and detailed survey reports to document survey activities.
Monitor project progress, troubleshoot issues, and implement solutions to maintain timelines and budget constraints will ensure successful project completion.
Process daily files with software packages such as Trimble Business Center, AutoCAD, Global Mapper, and Bentley Microstation to ensure task completion.
Obtain necessary project safety certifications. Enforce and promote strict safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all crew members.
Coordinate with team leaders, project managers, and clients to ensure survey work meets project objectives and client expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Purpose

What You Will Do:
Lead and manage survey crew in conducting complex field surveys, including boundary, topographic, construction, and as-built surveys.

You will work under the direction of a Professional Land Surveyor.
