What You Will Be Doing:
As a Data Science Intern, you will be part of a fast-paced environment, supporting our AI team on projects related to data engineering & data development. You will collaborate closely with data engineers, analysts, and business teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions. As an intern you will also assist with clear documentation of processes, models, and findings for knowledge sharing and reproducibility.
You will gain experience in the following areas:
Data Engineering: Assist in designing and maintaining data pipelines, performing ETL processes, and ensuring data quality and integrity.
Data Science: Support development of predictive models, conduct exploratory data analysis, and apply statistical techniques to solve business problems.
Agent Development: Contribute to building and testing generative AI agents and workflows for automation and decision support.
Master Data Management: Help maintain and improve master data governance processes, ensuring consistency and accuracy across systems.
Data Analysis & Visualization: Analyze datasets to identify trends and insights, and create dashboards or reports for stakeholders.
What We Are Looking for:
Degree Programs: Selected candidates will be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, from an accredited college.
Minimum Cumulative GPA: 2.8 GPA; Desired GPA 3.2 or above
Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL. Basic understanding of data structures, algorithms, and statistical concepts.
Exposure to machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) is a plus.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Students must possess a valid driver's license and their own transportation or have ability to use public transportation. You will be reimbursed for business-related travel.

As a Civil Engineering Intern, you will learn practical on-the-job experience serving our municipalities and will spend the majority of your time working with construction phase activities for water resources projects related to stream and wetland restorations, stormwater design, watershed management, and flood studies. This internship opportunity is for our Water Resources service group during the 2026 Summer season.
What You Will Be Doing:
Assist on civil engineering projects with tasks involving civil engineering, planning and design
Assists with the preparation of reports, of plans, specifications, and cost estimates

What We Are Looking for:
Degree Programs: Selected candidates will be enrolled in a Civil Engineering degree program or closely related program from an accredited post-secondary institution

Current Status: Sophomore or above desired, with completed coursework in general surveying and AutoCAD drafting
Students must have the ability to work in extended outdoor conditions and be physically capable of navigating rugged terrain for the purpose of performing the construction observation duties

Our water resources group is looking for an intern to complement our growing team. We provide water resources design for our transportation and land development groups, as well as standalone water and natural resources-based projects for several different types of clients. As an intern in our downtown Minneapolis office, you will work with our water resources team of professional engineers and technicians focused on helping you grow your skills while delivering high-quality projects. For water resources, you will be involved in all aspects of design projects including storm sewer design, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and water quality analysis. Alliant's water resources staff members are fully integrated into the overall design team for each project, giving you exposure to roadway and traffic design, environmental compliance, construction staging, and many other design disciplines. Tasks You'll Assist With:
Hydrologic Analysis: modeling hydrology to determine peak flow rates, runoff volumes, and peak water levels for watersheds
Water Quality Analysis: selecting and sizing stormwater best management practices to improve water quality and meet permitting requirements
Urban and Rural Drainage Design: preparing permanent and temporary storm sewer and culvert design in partnership with roadway design team
Plan Production: utilizing MicroStation/Geopak and Open Roads Designer or AutoCAD and Civil3D to draft and model designs and prepare plans
Cost Estimating: preparing quantities and researching historic unit prices to estimate construction costs
Qualifications:
Actively pursuing a Civil Engineering, Natural Resources, or Environmental Science (or related engineering or scientific field field)

Strong technical and problem solving skills

In this role, you will support the Assessment and Remediation business unit and undertake challenging and progressive work on projects related to the evaluation and remediation of contaminated sites. Assignments may include working as an individual or as part of a project team to assist with on-site investigations of contaminated soil, vapor, sediment, and groundwater; environmental site assessments; construction observation; engineering calculations; data summary tables and spreadsheets; and technical reports. Our Traffic Modeling and Technology team provides traffic modeling services utilizing emerging technologies and state-of-the-practice modeling software. We use AI-powered traffic data analytics to monitor traffic flow and extract various traffic operational data, including flow rates, speeds, gaps, queuing, and vehicle classification. We also use advanced microsimulation modeling tools, such as VISSIM and TransModeler. Based on origin-destination trip tables, we perform systemwide traffic operational analysis, while incorporating interactions between upstream and downstream roadways and intersections. Dynamic traffic assignment allows us to easily identify efficient design alternatives and/or alternative routes during construction. For travel demand modeling, we use macro modeling platforms such as TransCAD and Cube. We use the existing State or MPO travel demand models to forecast future traffic volumes based on various design alternatives and customize the models to best meet the needs of the client and the project.
As our Traffic Modeling Intern, you will assist in the analysis of transportation engineering projects for our public and private clients. You may also provide support to other functional groups within WSB and be involved with traffic engineering projects throughout our Minnesota, North Dakota, Texas, Florida, Georgia and Colorado markets.
What You Will Do:
* Work under the guidance of professional engineers on various traffic engineering projects including traffic operations analysis of roadways, interchanges, intersections and roundabouts.
* Assist in preparation of traffic models using industry standard programs such as HCS, microsimulation (TransModeler/VISSIM/CORSIM), Synchro and Sidra.
