What You Will Be Doing:
In this role you will provide project management and support to other Project Managers for services related to state and federal environmental assessments, transportation planning, land use analysis, policy research, and environmental compliance/permitting. Planning projects will vary with emphasis on land use, ordinance development, comprehensive plans, small area and master plans, transportation, parks and trails, or environmental review.
You will work independently with clients on planning, development review and ordinance updates, and collaboratively on larger projects with multi-disciplinary teams. You will also provide leadership and mentorship to our growing team.
What We Are Looking For:
Bachelors or Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in urban and regional planning, urban studies, architecture, landscape architecture, or affiliated degrees.
10+ years of progressive experience
Thorough knowledge of planning methods and application at the local and regional level
Experienced in agency and stakeholder involvement techniques and processes
Experience researching methods and statistical principles related to urban growth and development
Applied knowledge of methods and techniques of effective technical report preparation and presentations

What You Will Be Doing:
You will assist with boundary surveys, construction staking, topographic surveys, ALTA surveys, and GPS data collection

What We Are Looking For:
Must be a Military Service Member with 180 days of service or fewer remaining after your separation date

Responsibilities
Organize and direct frequent in-house design meetings.
Primary responsibility for the approval and oversight of design and construction documents within the applicable area of progressive technical experience, including signing and sealing of documents as Engineer or Record.

Arrange and attend pre-bid conferences and issue meeting minutes and addenda.
Conduct bid openings and prepare / issue certified bid tabulation. Coordinate as required to ensure the CA phase of the project always puts Dewberry in positive standing with Client.
Perform site visits, inspections, and commissioning activities as required to support the Construction Administration requirements.
Assist with recruiting, evaluating, and making recommendations regarding new employees to support MEP building services practice.
Required Skills & Required Experience
Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience.
Accomplished Professional Engineer (PE) with 5+ years of experience preferred.
Knowledgeable of construction process, familiar with AIA contracts.
Self-motivated with highly developed verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
Well organized, with good understanding of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and life safety systems with general knowledge of applicable codes, national standards, client design standards, system operation, space requirements, and cost.

Responsibilities

Good conceptual understanding of plumbing, mechanical, electrical, and structural systems with general knowledge of system operation, space requirements, and cost.

As a principal mechanical engineer, you will be responsible for the design of thermal infrastructure systems. Responsibilities
Provide high-level direction to senior mechanical engineering staff to allow the Business Unit/Office to effectively operate and successfully complete thermal infrastructure projects:
Office Operations: Supervise all mechanical discipline managers within an office or business unit for successful intra-office operations, by actively helping those department managers that report to you smoothly run their departments.
Service Line Operations: Assist the Chief Engineer leading MEPS Service Line's mechanical community of practice to ensure successful inter-office operations, by actively participating in the community of practice events and performing delegated tasks from the Chief Engineer.
Quality Management: Ensure mechanical discipline managers are consistently applying and complying with corporate quality management processes and procedures.
Technical Management: Ensure mechanical discipline managers provide timely and adequate guidance and quality oversight, including code review, of all project work involving electrical engineering.
Staff Development Oversight: Ensure mechanical discipline managers are providing adequate technical training and development of staff by providing guidance and mentoring of managers.
Standards Development Oversight: Ensure mechanical discipline managers are establishing and improving standards, practices, guidelines, and specifications. Required Skills & Required Experience
Experience in the design of institutional, educational, healthcare, laboratory and military projects is desired. The candidate should have a proven history of solid design work, meeting project deadlines and budgets, and working well in a team environment.
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
Professional Engineer's license. Existing licensure in NC and/or VA is preferred.
25+ years of technical experience in the design of thermal distribution systems, central utility plants, and/or building mechanical systems.
