Responsibilities:

Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
The Specialty Pharmacy Liaison is responsible for supporting the standardization and optimization of specialty pharmacy services across Bon Secours Mercy Health. The goal of the Specialty Pharmacy Liaison is to ensure proper processing and problem-solving of specialty prescriptions and to provide patients and provider offices with a high level of service. * Process prescription information in the computer system: Assists in complete and accurate billing of third party payer plans, Ensures accurate and safe processing of prescription information and Reviews patient profiles for accuracy
* Assists customers with prescriptions and/or other products: Completes specialty orders to meet customer needs, Demonstrates ability to respond to customer and co-worker questions or concerns in an appropriate and customer-focused manner
* Assists in the coordination and delivery of medications and supplies as assigned: Receives prescriptions from providers; gathers customer information per department policy; Coordinates prescription drug therapy for patients in an accurate and timely fashion in accordance with all legal requirements, regulatory agencies, and Bon Secours Mercy Health policy; Documents appropriately and maintains updated patient charts; Ensures refill dates are documented appropriately in order to prevent patient missing a dose; Assists the pharmacist in identifying patient problems and issues

* Coordinates and ensures appropriate medication delivery: Coordinates delivery of medications, supplies, and equipment to patients or other areas as assigned; Verifies proper patient information; Listens to customer concerns
* Completes the work of a pharmacy technician as required: Answers phone calls, faxes and computer requests in a timely manner; Cross trains and covers all department technician areas as assigned; Trains other staff members and students as needed
* Provides initial patient setup to establish an account with the specialty pharmacy: Verifies insurance coverage; Assists patients in working with insurance companies; Researches to optimize patient-specific and drug-specific copay assistance; Provides recommendations on additional funding sources
* Contacts insurance carriers, benefits offices and patients to determine new and ongoing coverage levels: Verify insurance information and level of coverage, informs the patient of pharmacy benefits coverage, assists the patient with the specialty pharmacy process for non-participating pharmacy for patient ease in out-of-network situations
* Plans and schedules patient deliveries with respect to efficiency, time, priority, product-specific shipping needs, and cost-effectiveness: Communicates with internal departments and external specialty pharmacies to ensure customer needs are met; Evaluates delivery requirements and ensures accurate and timely deliveries; Proactively communicates with patients when there are delivery delays; Determines best method of delivery with relationship to location and time constraints; Coordinates the receipt of initial shipments

**Summary of Primary Function/General Purpose of Position**
The Specialty Pharmacy Technician is responsible for supporting standardization and optimization of specialty pharmacy services across Bon Secours Mercy Health. The goal of Specialty Pharmacy Technician is to perform the basic duties of a specialty pharmacy technician in all designated sites. Including and not limited to, prescription data entry, as well as communicate and coordinate with all parties necessary to insure timely shipping and delivery of specialty medication prescription orders. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician is responsible for under general supervision, assisting the pharmacist to fill prescriptions, select, assemble, and place medications for specialty services. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician will have a variety of job responsibilities within the specialty pharmacy that will encompass various activities.

+ Ensure refill dates are documented appropriately in order to prevent patient's missing a dose
+ Assist the pharmacist in identifying patient problems and issues
+ Order, receive, maintain, and stock inventory and supplies from various vendors
+ Verify items against prescription labels
+ Deliver items to appropriate individuals or business units
+ Follow all policies and procedures related to shipping and proper medication storage
+ Monitor expiration dates and manage product returns as necessary
Coordinate and ensure appropriate medication delivery
+ Coordinate delivery of medications, supplies and equipment to patients or other areas as assigned
+ Complete order taking, verifying proper information
+ Listen to customer concerns
Complete the work of a pharmacy technician as required
+ Answer phone calls, faxes, and computer requests in a timely manner
+ Cross train and cover all department technician areas assigned
+ Train other staff members and students as needed
+ Assist in maintenance of the pharmacy to reflect a clean and well-stocked condition on a daily basis
Provide initial patient set up to establish account with the specialty pharmacy
+ Verify patient insurance coverage
+ Assist patients in working with insurance companies
+ Research to optimize patient-specific and drug-specific copay assistance
+ Provide recommendations on additional funding sources
Contact insurance carriers, benefits offices, and patients to determine new and ongoing coverage levels:
+ Verify insurance information and level of coverage
+ Inform patient of pharmacy benefits coverage
+ Assist patient with the specialty pharmacy process for non-participating pharmacy for patient ease in out-of-network situations
Plan and schedule patient deliveries with respect to efficiency, time, priority, product specific shipping needs, and cost effectiveness
+ Communicate with internal departments and external specialty pharmacies to ensure customer needs are met
+ Evaluate delivery requirements and ensure timely and accurate delivery
+ Proactively communicate with patients when there are delivery delays
+ Determine best method of delivery with relationship to location and time constraints (Fed Ex, UPS, Courier, Mail, or other modes as necessary)

Pharmacy Technician Trainee - Fairfield Outpatient Pharmacy
Job Summary:
The Pharmacy Technician Trainee is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including, but not limited to preparing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, compliance audits, and financial transactions, providing customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. The Pharmacy Technician Trainee works as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team, and under the direction of the Pharmacist.
Essential Functions:
Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions
Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the General Pharmaceutical Council
Providing instructions to educate people on the correct way to take their medicine
Supporting the Pharmacist in the daily operation of the pharmacy
Protecting employees and patients by adhering to infection-control protocols and policies
Other duties as assigned
Education:
High School Diploma or GED (required, unless enrolled in a High School Training Program)
Licensure/Certification:
Registration with respective State Board of Pharmacy as a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Trainee, if applicable (required)
In South Carolina: State Registered Pharmacy Tech (preferred)
Experience:
Previous experience working in a team environment (preferred)
Training:
Pharmacy Training Program
Training will continue for up to 12 months
Upon completion of the training period, the Pharmacy Technician Trainee will be evaluated for advancement to a Registered Pharmacy Technician or Certified Pharmacy Technician
This may entail an ASHP/ACPE accredited training program or an employer-based program which meets the state board of pharmacy requirements
Skills & Abilities:
Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment
Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
Possesses problem-solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Requires knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic technique
