Mechanical Assembler The Assembler is responsible to fit and assemble components according to assembly blueprints, manuals, engineering memos, and sketches, using hand tools and power tools. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Analyzes assembly blueprint and specifications manuals. Meet established production and quality standards, while conforming to all company attendance, safety, and personnel policies. Verifies conformance of parts to stock list and blueprints, using measuring instruments such as calipers, gauges, and micrometers. Lays out hole locations and drills and taps holes on parts for assembly. Aligns components for assembly, manually or with hoist, and bolts, screws, dowels, welds, or rivets parts together, using hand tools, rivet gun, and welding equipment, or arranges for assembly by welder and electrician. Verifies alignment and tolerances of moving parts using measuring instruments. Installs wiring and electrical components to specifications. Operates forklift as required. Operates any equipment needed to perform job. Maintain clean, organized and safe work environment following all safety standards and requirements. Perform preventative maintenance tasks as required. Other tasks as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Required: Related experience or training. Preferred: High School diploma or GED. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed in a fast-paced shop setting with frequent interruptions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious places. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud. Summary: Performs mechanical assembly work. Assembly procedures may involve adjusting and fitting parts to close tolerances, working with parts or components which are difficult to handle and other skills which require good dexterity and skill in the use of a variety of hand tools. Work is not typically repetitive, but the cycle of repetition may be short enough to allow the development of some habit patterns. Must be able to work from detailed blueprints, assembly sketches or other input documents of similar complexity. May make minor procedural decisions in fitting and adjusting of parts, etc., but always within established guidelines. Assemble parts for electromechanical equipment. Read and interpret schematics, blueprints, drawings and instructions. Tag or mark identifying information on parts. Grease or lubricate parts with oilcans, tap or ream bolt holes with drill presses. Adjust and grind down parts if necessary. Inspect parts for flaws and imperfections. Position and fasten units to assemblies and subassemblies and fasten cables and wiring. Use calipers and micrometers to measure parts and determine tolerances. Test for mechanical reliability and measure dimensions/clearance of parts.

Work hours are Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Assemble, pack, or wrap units per production order, drawings, and specification sheets ensuring compliance with all quality standards. Inspect all components for compliance with quality standards and reports non-compliance to supervisor Report all material, carton, and packaging shortages or discrepancies, and repair damaged products as required Stamp product with part number upon completion of operation Make final inspection of unit before packaging and cleans dirt, fingerprints, etc. off units Wrap, pack, and label products according to drawings and/or specification sheets Handle inventory of component parts, repaint lists, and label units prior to assembly Set-up and operate drill presses, countersink machines, saws, and rivet sheet metal as routed Count parts and record accurately Move parts in and out of area as required and records location as appropriate
