Part-Time Administrative/Accounting Clerk
Immediate Opening for a Part-Time Accountant
The Part Time Payroll Accountant is responsible for processing and reconciling the weekly payroll for the Company each Monday. The position requires 8 12 hours each week. The work is performed in accordance with established internal policies and generally accepted accounting principles under the direction of the Chief Accounting Officer.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Gather timekeeping data, calculate time worked, including overtime. Consults with employees' supervisors on timecard issues and verifies that the data is correct before paycheck processing occurs.
Verifies that the payroll system has the correct compensation data for each employee. This includes salary, hourly rates, regular hours and overtime hours. Verifies other types of pay, such as vacation, sick, holiday, incentives, back pay and retroactive pay increases.
Confirms paycheck deductions, such as federal income tax, Social Security tax, Medicare tax, state and local taxes, wage garnishment, retirement contributions and health insurance premiums.
Files and remits payroll taxes, retirement contributions, wage garnishments to the appropriate parties. Forwards the direct deposit file to the bank and prints paychecks and pay stubs.
Addresses internal payroll inquiries from managers, supervisors and employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Excellent organization, communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize assignments to meet required deadlines.
Independent self-starter and good listener who can discern required steps to achieve goals without specific task direction.
