Prior to taking over as CEO in 2007, Gary served as the Chief Operating Officer. Under Gary’s direction, Booksource has achieved extensive growth. Gary’s focus as a CEO is first and foremost on the employees, providing benefits and a unique culture that empowers employees at work and at home, fostering a family-friendly workplace. He believes health, passion, and education are as important to the company as the bottom line. He has received multiple awards for his unique approach as CEO, including a Future 50 Awards: The Hardest Working People in Small Business from St. Louis Small Business Monthly. Gary was also recently named Executive of the Year and won a Gold Stevie® from the 2017 American Business Awards SM. He was also named one of the Top 100 St. Louisans to know for 2016 and was also a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year through Ernst and Young. As for Booksource, the company was awarded a 2017 Top Workplaces honor by The Post-Dispatch. Booksource was awarded Top Workplace for six consecutive years.
