Boot Barn company history timeline

1978

January 1978 Sheplers opens their doors to the people of the Dallas / Ft.

What started out as one store in 1978 has since become the largest western and work wear retailer in the nation.

1982

1982 The New York Times Sunday Edition features Sheplers in the "Shopper's World" section.

1984

1984 Sheplers opens a 50,000 square-foot National Distribution Center for it's highly successful Catalog Division in south Wichita, Kansas.

1989

1989 Two years after the buyout, Sheplers Management group exercises their right to retire their debt to KPERS, thus acquiring 100 percent of stock in the company.

1998

Sheplers started Sheplers.com in December of 1998, and 17 years later Sheplers.com has grown to be the world's largeset online retailer of western, outdoor, and work lifestyle.

2014

Sheplers Warehouse - 2014 Gryphon Investors, a San Francisco private equity firm, acquires Sheplers.

2015

CEO Conroy calls this its tuck-in growth strategy, which started in 2015 when the Kansas-based 25-store Shepler’s company along with its strong e-commerce platform was acquired.

2018

While Conroy says he expects the majority of its store expansion will be the result of building new stores, more tuck-ins are also on the table. For example, in 2018 the company opened 12 new stores and added five more through tuck-in acquisitions.

2019

Boot Barn’s annual sales in fiscal year 2019 were $776.9 million, propelled by 14.6% growth from previous year.

2020

At the close of third quarter, it expects to reach revenues of $850 million by year-end in March 2020.

At the end of fiscal 2020 in March it expects to reach 264 stores and plans to add 10% unit growth per year over the next six-to-seven years to number some 500 stores.
