SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED Police Officer General supervision is provided by a Police Sergeant. Technical or functional supervision may be provided by other police personnel. Current certification of completion of a P.O.S.T. regular basic course from a State of California P.O.S.T. approved Police Academy. Merit step increases are based on satisfactory performance. RETIREMENT: Membership in CalPERS. Safety Classic CalPERS members hired before September 17, 2011 will be enrolled in the 3% @ 50 retirement formula and pay the employee's 12% share. CalPERS Classic members hired after September 17, 2011 will be enrolled in the 2% @ 50 retirement formula and pay the 12% share. New or returning CalPERS members with a break in service greater than six months, will be enrolled in the 2.7% @ 57 retirement formula and will be required to pay 50% of the normal CalPERS cost (currently 13%).
