Job Skills / Requirements The Scott County Sheriff's Department is seeking a POPS certified peace officer to protect and serve the people of the county in all aspects of law enforcement and to comply with all statutory duties required by law. As a deputy sheriff the candidate selected will: 1) patrol county roads in a patrol car with responsibilities for traffic control, investigate criminal complaints, prevent and detect crime or disturbances of the peace, investigate and assist with traffic accidents, and enforce the laws of the state of Kentucky and ordinances of the county and process all violators thereof; 2) attend court, keep order and carry out orders of the courts; 3) Transport prisoners and convey all persons to the state penitentiary in execution of the sentence of the courts and execute all orders of the court in regards to conveying of prisoners; 4) execute and serve civil and criminal process of the courts; 5) collect property taxes as required by law.
