Most employees have their own campers Job Summary: Responsible for the overall daily operation of hot-mix asphalt plant with computerized equipment controls. Duties include receipt and shipment of raw materials and asphalt products, manufacturing of asphalt products, lab testing, inspection and recordkeeping requirements, computer oriented tasks and the maintenance of the equipment in the plant. Reports to the Superintendent/Foreman. The highest quality of workmanship is expected in assigned paving projects while working in a safe, productive and professional manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. In charge of plant setup and plant tear down and daily reporting of time and material records. Input numeric data and operational date into a computer system to effectively operate primary or secondary crushing, or other plant equipment to meet site production needs. Batch asphalt load according to specifications. Monitor material temperature and quality. Schedule and ensure timely delivery of oil, fuel, aggregates, admixtures and supplies to plant. Operate controls for loading trucks with material. Report mechanical failures and material inconsistencies to Project Superintendent and/or Project Manager. Perform light plant maintenance, conduct routine inspection and preventive maintenance and clean equipment. May run a front end loader or other material handling equipment to charge the plant with aggregate and other materials. Inform the Superintendent and Mechanic crew about repair and maintenance needs for equipment on assigned jobs. Ensure that safety, compliance, environmental and OSHA requirements are followed at all times. Relate to co-workers and the general public in a courteous and respectful manner. Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with training or other duties. Abilities Required: Ability to meet attendance schedule and to report to assigned job site in proper attire. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, write, and speak English. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to understand appropriate uses of mix designs. Ability to operate equipment under varying work conditions and the ability to do some manual labor requiring periods of extensive physical exertion and potential exposure to adverse weather conditions. Ability to learn, understand and abide by Company policies and safety rules. Participate in weekly safety meetings. Ability to work well with others and willingness to learn and take direction. Ability and willingness to travel for extended periods of time and work long hours to perform the job duties.
