    Hiring for 2026 Season! Border States Paving, Inc., a Fargo, ND based asphalt paving company is seeking an experienced Assistant Asphalt Plant Operator. This is a seasonal, full-time position. Season runs approximately March-Nov Key duties include: Responsible for assisting the overall daily operation of a hot-mix asphalt plant with computerized Systems equipment. Duties include plant set-up and tear down, receipt and shipment of raw materials and asphalt products, manufacturing asphalt products, lab testing, inspection and record keeping and maintenance of the equipment in the plant. Must be willing to meet and follow all safety and company policy/procedure requirements. A valid driver's license is necessary to drive company vehicles and equipment. Wages: $31.40-$34.40 per hour(DOE) plus $17.99+ per hour fringe (covers Health insurance premiums, life insurance & Pension). Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or equivalent required. Must possess at least two years of maintenance/repair at an asphalt plant. Previous experience operating as asphalt plant desired. Good mechanical repair skills, math skills and communication skills are necessary. Must have the ability to work in confined spaces. Skills in using computers for data entry and retrieval are needed. Installs, repairs, and maintains communication cables, power distribution cables, then splicing pieces as required. Familiarity and experience working with PLCs (Programable Logic Controllers) Experience working with High Voltage (480 volts) required Fabricates parts if not commercially available, using machine and hand tools common to the trade. Determines need for, analyzes, and makes necessary running adjustments, repairs, and overhauls. Advises and cautions operators and mechanics about potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved.
