To his great surprise, he was awarded the contract. Thus, in 1962, Freemon D. Borkholder founded what is now F.D. Borkholder and Company, Inc. – Borkholder Buildings and Supply, LLC.
On a cold November day in 1969, 20 Midwestern post-frame builders gathered in Chicago to discuss building code changes that would directly affect their businesses.
In the early 1980’s, Floyd Graber wanted to provide an affordable campfire setup with which to enjoy God’s great outdoors.
After working through various designs, the original Graber Grill was perfected and brought to market in 1986.
On November 11, 1993 Freemon was in a construction accident and was paralyzed from the waist down, confining him to a wheelchair.
He continued to serve the company as President until November 1995 when he passed on the President position to his son, Dwayne Borkholder.
The Graber Grill Jr. (#202) was added in 2000, with many other models and accessories added over the years.
In 2003, Floyd passed away, but his desire to keep the business in the family was realized when his son-in-law, Dwayne Borkholder, and grandson, Craig Graber, purchased the business.
As one of the entries to the 2010 competition of the National Frame Building Association, our Zero Energy Home received a “BUILDING OF THE YEAR” award.
In 2015, Dwayne sold his share to Floyd’s son (and Craig’s father) Sheldon Graber.
