Working at The Borough of Punxsutawney

Being able to work in developing relationships with local organizations and the number of political people necessary to assist in moving the Borough forward. To have the flexibility to schedule meetings outside of the Borough with other Borough Managers to gain insight as to what the municipalities around us were doing. Attending functions where networking enabled expanded communication and ideas. The best pro was being able to develop a solar panel farm through government grants to eliminate the electricity costs of the Borough and utilizing that savings in other needed areas.

The biggest con was working with a Borough Council shortsighted in accepting/wanting change. The politics of having to deal with members who judged you by who you are versus what you stood for and accomplished.

Having a designated parking space.

Being the Borough Manager I was in essence the CEO. What I liked best about the leadership team was the fact that I had the majority vote through the most of my tenure.

To improve the culture you would have to get people involved to run for Borough Council who were knowledgeable of the Borough and not driven by personal agendas.

I prepared by having served 8 years on Borough Council and developed a repertoire of issues that were pertinent to the Borough and had become personally involved in one of the biggest issues.

My compensation was above ave3rage for an individual first starting in the position.
