Title: Success Scholars Peer Mentor Unit: Student Employment Department: Success Scholars Reports to: Director of Success Scholars Program General Summary: A Peer Mentor conducts engaging mentoring sessions for program-eligible students. Peer Mentors develop an enduring, trusting relationship with students and help them: 1) with the transition to college, 2) develop effective study strategies and life skills to implement within the classroom and outside of the classroom as students work toward individual academic and personal goals and 3) become more involved on campus by referring them to appropriate department workshops, campus resources, and/or engagement activities.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Provide individual and small group mentoring sessions
* Guide students in self-advocacy skills, study skills, and time management skills to become successful, independent learners
* Contribute to a friendly and productive learning environment
* Serve as an energetic and enthusiastic coach to help students succeed at Middlesex
* Serve as a positive role model and create a sense of belonging with mentees
* Attend all trainings and meetings
* Maintain regular contact through informal check-in meetings throughout the semester
* Be available as an ongoing resource for the mentees
* Refer students to other appropriate college support services and resources as needed and follow up with students to ensure support is provided
* Communicate student concerns and student referrals to other services with the direct supervisor or Success Program Director
* Assist students in navigating MCC Portal, Blackboard, Navigate, email, MS Office, MCC App, and Degree Audit
* Provide student success tips for the best ways to communicate with professors
* Aide in students' understanding of course expectations
* Success mentors who work in the ACE Department as peer tutors or SI Leaders can provide subject tutoring with their mentees as needed

Models pose either alone or with other models. EFS is the studio curriculum for all first-year undergraduate students at RISD and is comprised of three programs of study: Drawing, Design and Spatial Dynamics. EFS faculty members emphasize the development of rigorous critical inquiry and motivate students to learn independently. Projects are designed to encourage exploration, questioning and risk-taking. Essential Functions
Train and assist faculty, students, and others in the proper use of machinery, tools, safety equipment, supplies and in following safety procedures. Train and assist faculty and students in the implementation of the EPA hazardous materials standards. Required to use appropriate safety equipment.
Actively gather information on and obtain an understanding of faculty assignments in order to prepare the machinery, equipment, supplies and other resources required to support the academic curriculum. Provide advice and guidance on the technical and physical parameters of student projects.
Maintain all machinery and other related equipment in a neat and orderly manner. Proactively identify and perform preventative maintenance to and minor repairs on machinery and equipment as required. Arrange with outside vendors for repairs that cannot be done in the department.
Research and suggest improvements to, or modifications of, the facility, machines, equipment and tools. Design and/or construct specialized equipment or unique models as requested by supervisor, faculty, department heads, or deans. Acclimate obtain and engage in training on, and remain current with new and existing technology, equipment, software, etc.
Complete physical setup of tools, materials, and spaces for classes, including, but not limited to lifting, moving and arranging a variety of equipment, props, materials and/or supplies which may weigh up to 50lbs. Preview spaces and classrooms to verify tools, systems, and facilities are operational and functioning to required standards; make adjustments, repairs, and modifications as needed. Assist with the coordination of schedules and preparation of multi-use rooms.
Supervise student monitors and/or other technical support staff to assure quality and quantity of work with emphasis on safety. Train students in the proper operation, handling and care of machinery and equipment. Schedule full shop coverage with well-trained monitors.
Order supplies and maintain proper inventory levels. Drive RISD vehicle to obtain and transport materials and supplies. Monitor department expenditures in consultation with the department head.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Experience
Prior experience with band and scroll saws; drill presses; and other industrial design or furniture tools required. Experience with digital fabrication equipment and principles (laser cutters, CNC routers, 3D printers, etc.) as demonstrated by overseeing, preparing, installing and operating digital fabrication equipment in an educational or industrial setting. Experience with audio-visual and design software with the ability to instruct, install, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues. Valid Driver's license required.
Excellent interpersonal communications skills. Ability to be proactive, to anticipate needs of a diverse group of students and faculty who possess a range of skill levels, and to meet and balance a wide variety of needs and demands. Job Description:
The Graduate Assistant Residence Director is responsible for assisting the programmatic, supervisory and operational needs of the Residence Life and Housing Office, specifically in conjunction with one residence hall building on campus. Duties include participation in the after-hours duty rotation and supporting departmental initiatives and acting as support for the daily operation of a Residence Hall. An Assistant Director/Residence Director will provide daily supervision to the Graduate Assistant RD. The grad RD will assist with the supervision and guidance of the staff for St. Joseph Hall.
This is a ten month, part-time (15 hours/week plus on call duty rotation), live-in position. The option for summer work is possible. The compensation for this position is a furnished apartment, a partial meal plan, local telephone service, voice mail, cable television and Internet access.
Specific Responsibilities
* Provides leadership and support to the residence hall community.
* ARD will work specifically with one the Assistant Director/Residence Director for St. Joseph hall to support staff supervision and development.
* Assist in the development of an environment that supports and promotes opportunities for individual growth, respect for persons and property, and instills a sense of community living and shared responsibility.
* Assists in coordination of programming efforts in the residence hall in accordance with established procedures.
* Serve as a Student Conduct Officer
* Regularly interact with students through formal and informal contacts (i.e., office hours, attendance at campus activities and floor programs) with the goal of understanding the campus and residence hall communities and learning the names, strengths and concerns of resident students.
* Acts in an advising capacity and refers students to appropriate campus offices, services and resources.
* Serves in "on-call" capacity.
* Responds to student and facility incidents and/or emergencies.
* Reports to incident scenes in timely manner to inspect, assesses, supervise and/or act in response to incidents and/or emergencies in accordance with established polices.
* Supervises, observes and inspects extensive areas in all residence halls while "on duty".
* Support the Resident Assistant staff in their role after hours.
* Provides administrative management and support to departmental systems and tasks.
* Attends and participates in Residence Life and Housing weekly staff meetings.
* Participate in the On Call staff meetings; usually once a month plus training sessions throughout the year.
* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Residence Life and Housing.
* Provides leadership in monitoring and promoting safety, security and care of the college facilities and property.
* Will work in conjunction with the Assistant Directors/Residence Directors in the administration and leadership of students on campus. These areas can include:

Requirements:
A Bachelor's degree is required. Past Residence Life and Housing experience is strongly preferred. A candidate should be a graduate student at a regional accredited college or university in Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling or other related field. Candidates must possess and exhibit positive role modeling behavior as it relates to academic performance, social interaction, and policy enforcement as outlined in the Emmanuel College Student Handbook.

The Executive Director of Recruitment & Strategic Initiatives serves as the second-in-command of the admissions and enrollment team, reporting directly to the Associate Vice President (AVP) of Enrollment. The Assistant Director and Training Coordinator serves the Counseling Center in three ways: clinically, administratively and supervisory. Clinical responsibilities include individual and group counseling, emergency coverage and crisis intervention, clinical consultation, and supporting outreach and prevention programming. As Assistant Director, this staff member serves as the department administrator in the Director's absence, which may involve responding to life-threatening crises and providing direction to clinicians, staff and students. As Training Coordinator, this staff member coordinates the department's clinical training program and oversees supervision of clinical trainees.
Requirements:
Individuals must have demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to work and communicate effectively with staff, students, and other college employees. This course offers a comprehensive view of the research and theory dealing with the psychological development of the individual throughout childhood.
