Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) is seeking a part-time Harm Reduction Technician to work at the Barbara McInnis House (BMH), our 103-bed medical respite facility in Boston. While working in respite, the EMT will be required to provide harm reduction-centered education and support, monitor sedation, and provide compassionate engagement with patients in collaboration with the Behavioral Health team. The role includes offering frequent, non-judgmental check-ins within the respite milieu, assisting with behavioral concerns in partnership with the nursing team, and ensuring that sedated patients are triaged and safely monitored using a supportive, person-centered, and trauma-informed approach.
Services provided will include clinical assessments, case management support, triage, medical monitoring and intervention, and ongoing harm reduction education tailored to each patient's goals and readiness for change. The EMT will also assist with the respite methadone protocols and coordinate with outside MAT programs as needed.
Responsibilities:
* Provide direct clinical care to meet patient needs in accordance with established policies and procedures, as well as Department of Public Health regulations
* Deliver supportive, compassionate, and non-judgmental care to individuals with substance use disorders, fully aligned with harm reduction principles
* Collaborate closely with the medical and interdisciplinary staff to ensure patients receive
high-quality, comprehensive, and coordinated care
* Conduct accurate assessments of sedation levels and document all clinical interventions appropriately
* Provide risk-reduction counseling, overdose prevention education, and connection to treatment programs based on patient choice

Qualifications:

Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) is offering a wonderful opportunity to work as a part of a vibrant multidisciplinary HIV team. As a program recognized nationally for its innovative programming and provision of the highest quality health care for people experiencing homelessness, the Medical Case Manager will work to address key social determinants of health for people living with HIV and substance use disorder who are experiencing homelessness; and do so within a collaborative team-based community health center context. This position is funded until the end of February 2028 with the possibility for renewal. If this funding is not renewed, this position will end February 28, 2028.
Responsibilities:
* Assess new HIV patients for financial, psycho-social, housing, and other needs. Develop comprehensive service care plan with the patient; assess Ryan White eligibility and care plan at intake and every 6 months; attend all required Boston Public Health Commission Ryan White trainings (including on eligibility and program updates)
* Work with patients to reduce barriers to full engagement in HIV care and treatment, including via collaboration with legal and housing advocates; assist patients in attending important appointments including medical, benefits, mental health, etc., by arranging transportation and addressing other barriers; accompany patients as needed to important housing, legal and social service appointments; as well as to medical and behavioral health appointments when indicated; track patients who miss appointments and reschedule as necessary, document care appropriately in medical record
* Identify, in collaboration with rest of the multidisciplinary team, which patients will benefit from outreach visits at shelters, outside agencies, jail, or their place of residence; participate in HIV care team to exchange information, develop an integrated care plan, etc., in partner notification program, and in multidisciplinary HIV care team meetings to collaborate on integrated care plans and coordinate care
* Conduct intensive outreach visits on the streets, drop in spaces, outside agencies, jail, or patients' homes to connect with patients who are newly diagnosed with HIV and not yet in care, or who have fallen out of care
Qualifications:
* Associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field and/ or equivalent two years relevant human services experience
* Experience working with people with substance use disorder is required, experience working with people experiencing homelessness, incarceration and/or sexual violence is a plus; lived experiences are welcomed and valued
* Commitment to harm reduction, knowledge of harm reduction strategies and trauma informed approaches is required; previous experiences conducting street level outreach with at-risk populations a plus; knowledge of community resources, particularly addiction related resources and supports a plus

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Research Project Manager will play an integral role in managing research programs across the Department of Surgery. They will work under supervision of Executive Director of Research, and closely work with the Grants Administrator, Research Coordinators, and our faculty in providing operational support that facilitates coordination of high-impact research studies. These studies include basic biomedical, clinical, quality improvement and translational research. The position requires frequent communication with the Executive Director of Research in the Department of Surgery and Associate Chair of Research.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Act as a strategic liaison, interacting with principal investigators, lab staff, institutional offices (e.g., Clinical Trials Office (CTO), IRB, IACUC, Biosafety, etc.)), and external collaborators, as well as with compliance, safety, human resources, and the clinical trials offices
Support project management for large, multi-component grants (e.g., e.g., T32 training grants, U-series cooperative agreements, program project grants, center grants, and industry-sponsored studies)
Assist in tracking and coordinate research activities across multiple funding sources, including NIH, DOD, foundation grants, and industry contracts
Establish and manage essential regulatory documentation, data user agreements (DUAs) and centralized repositories/compliance files in accordance with organizational and federal policies and procedures, including IRB/IACUC submissions, biosafety protocols, and training documentation
Manage research timelines, milestones, and deliverables, particularly for translational projects with regulatory and clinical components, proactively identify risks and implement mitigation strategies
Assist with quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) audits preparation conducted within organization and by external parties, as well as inspections conducted by FDA
Assist with hiring process for research staff, fellows, and students, including coordination with human resources and onboarding; time sheets management and effort allocation tracking
Assist with implementation of SOPs, data management plans, compliance protocols, preparation and submission of progress reports, data tables, and other deliverables to sponsors

The Research Assistant will support the multidisciplinary research team by recruiting and retaining study participants, collecting study data through a variety of methods (questionnaires, qualitative interviews, focus groups, proof of concept trials), and additional day-to-day study activities. This is a primarily in-person position. The ideal candidate will have experience working with people who use substances and a strong interest in public health, harm reduction, and substance use.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Administrative:
* Generate weekly recruitment and retention status reports for team meetings and take meeting notes
* Assist with presentations and manuscripts development
Study Related Tasks:
* Support coordination and the conduct of focus group sessions for intervention development, assist with content analysis
* Recruit and screen study participants admitted to the hospital and from post overdose programs, harm reduction organizations, and street outreach

The Respite Aide (CNA or MA) is an important and integral part of the nursing department at the Barbara McInnis House (BMH). Maintenance Tech III is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance for Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program's buildings and grounds. Responsibilities include managing work orders, identifying and executing building repairs, and responding to general maintenance issues and emergencies in a timely manner. Resolve daily work order requests

Our dedicated clinical and non-clinical staff work hard to bring BHCHP's mission to life. The fundamental expression of that mission is the care of those individuals who avoid shelters and sleep on the streets. This population suffers very high mortality rates and presents a complex burden of co-occurring medical, mental health and addiction problems, placing them at great risk.
As the Street Team Care Coordinator, you will be part of a multi-disciplinary primary care team and will provide complex case management for a panel of adults with a history of chronic unsheltered homelessness. Some examples of complex case management that you will provide include appointment coordination, access to transportation and benefits, connection to housing and legal resources, and mitigating other barriers to health care. Within your panel of patients, a subset will be eligible to be part of a MassHealth initiative that provides qualified MassHealth enrollees with a service benefit called Behavioral Health Community Partners.
To succeed in this role, you must be a flexible, compassionate, and self-motivated individual who embraces the mission. You must be committed to delivering low-threshold, high-quality care coordination in various non-traditional locations, to a vulnerable population of individuals with a history of chronic street homelessness. Because you'll be practicing on the streets, you must be able to walk multiple miles a day in varying weather conditions.
Responsibilities:
Provide outreach-based case management, and non-judgmental support, in collaboration with other Street Team members, and as part of the Behavioral Health Community Partners Program.

Complete health/needs assessments and develop integrated care plans with the patient and primary care team.

AmeriCorps Wellness Care Coordinator

Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP) serves individuals experiencing homelessness in the Greater Boston area. BHCHP recognizes that there is a correlation between mental health, homelessness, and chronic disease. To respond to the needs of our patients, BHCHP has formed a Wellness team of providers. The AmeriCorps Wellness Care Coordinator will provide care coordination and health education to individuals served by our program with the goal of improving patients' overall health and well-being. The AmeriCorps Wellness Care Coordinator will collaborate closely with the Behavioral Health Team and BHCHP chronic disease teams to support patients in navigating their healthcare needs. This includes managing referrals, finding resources, assisting vulnerable patients in following through with external appointments, and more. The Wellness Care Coordinator will visit various BHCHP sites to provide health education, information about connecting to Behavioral Health services, and to run wellness support groups. The Member will also serve as an individual support for patients who attend the weekly ( diabetes) wellness support group (that is hosted by the Behavioral Health team). The Wellness Care Coordinator will be responsible making notes in the electronic medical record when pertinent labs are due for upcoming appointments. The coordinator will provide necessary outreach/phone follow-up with patients closely connected to the team to ensure optimum care is delivered.
Additional duties include entering necessary information into the electronic medical record and maintaining close communication with clinic staff. In addition to these core responsibilities, the Member will fulfill marginal functions around patient education, managing volunteers, training, service projects, and data reporting.
Essential Functions:
Serve as a point of connection for patients being discharged from the Barbara McInnis House to Behavioral Health outpatient services
Liaison with the Hypertension team to promote seamless chronic disease management
Follow through on referrals made to the wellness team
Provide telephonic and in-person outreach to wellness team patients
Monitor the A1C results of wellness support group patients
Create and attend tabling events to provide chronic disease and wellness education
Assist with and run A1C events
Assist with and run support and activity groups for patients throughout the program
Make notes in the electronic medical records when an A1C is due for a scheduled appointment
Provide support and patient navigation for patients attending the wellness group
Assist vulnerable patients with external appointments (coordinating with and supporting patients to set them up for success with external appointments, with the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency)
Maintain all clients' privacy and confidentiality, adhering to HIPAA regulations and those policies as implemented by the BHCHP
Update timekeeping system and Epic regularly to document hours and patient encounters respectively
Work with BH Equity team on patient chart reviews and making appropriate PPTs as needed
Help to create organized resources for chronic disease management specific to our patient population - and update and manage upkeep of all these resources on the CDM Team webpage on the BHCHP wiki so all information is available at one location
Marginal Functions:
Provide health education, particularly around tobacco cessation, healthy eating, cancer screenings, and overdose prevention, to patients either one-on-one or in groups
Develop health education materials, as necessary, including bulletin boards, flyers, handouts, brochures, etc.
Organize health fairs individually or in collaboration with the team
Facilitate volunteer groups on a rotating basis
Participate in required trainings and service projects
Participate in fundraising efforts to support Member-run patient education/support programs
Qualifications:
Must be 18 years of age or older, as required by BHCHP
Must have a High School diploma or GED
Must be a US Citizen, US National, or Permanent Resident Alien
Experience with/or interest in volunteerism and community engagement
An understanding of multicultural issues, substance use, mental health and the complex health problems of patients experiencing homelessness
Bilingual Spanish is preferred
Commitment requirements:
It is anticipated that the 2025-2026 year of service will begin September 8, 2025 and run through July, 24 2026.The time requirement for this position is a minimum 40 hours/week; 1,700 hours required by the end of the term of service, with a focus on in person work. The Member must serve for the length of program and meet the minimum hours served requirement to successfully complete their service year. Exact service hours will depend on the service location and assigned projects. Anticipated schedule of Monday - Friday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm, with occasional 11:00am - 7:00pm shifts, and rotating Saturdays.

Position Summary:
Performs a variety of routine duties to assist in laboratory processes, such as, performing venipunctures on both inpatient and outpatient population in various areas of the hospital. Registers and orders specimens received from clients into LIS.

Specimen Collection
Perform phlebotomy on inpatient and outpatient populations using the stated procedural policies.
Perform therapeutic phlebotomies.
Monitors workflow using the specimen tracker.
Specimen Processing/Send-Outs
Processes specimens including centrifugation, aliquoting, labeling.
Prepares specimens to be sent to referral laboratories; obtains proper detailed information pertaining to sample requirements such as: test codes, appropriate specimen type and volume needed, process and deliver specimens to appropriate department.
Package and send specimens to the appropriate Reference Laboratory per specimen requirements.
Microbiology
This job may also include plant specimens on correct media and incubate them properly.
Performs assigned duties to ensure, an adequate inventory of supplies for assigned area. Monitors inventory levels and stores equipment and supplies in a neat and orderly manner.
Maintains accurate records of processes performed, using manual and computer-based systems.
