The job requires excellent communication skills and a desire to work in a fast-paced environment Responsibilities: Performs hazardous compounding Performs batch sterility tests Monitors at least one Key Performance Indicator or produces at least one Key Process Improvement Assists in revising training materials Demonstrates intermediate skill performance by performing at least one of the following: intermediate purchasing skills, decentralized pharmacy services, medication histories, or ADC optimization Complies with HIPAA policies Performs excellent recordkeeping, accuracy, and handoffs when dealing with Controlled Substances, and immediately reports any concerns/discrepancies to pharmacist or supervisor Required Knowledge & Skills: Certification/Licensure: Current Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification and current MA Pharmacy Technician license Able to perform gloved fingertip and media fill test as required. Assembles, prepares, and delivers, as necessary, drugs to patient care areas. Provides information concerning therapeutic alternatives to physicians in regards to UMMHC formulary. Troubleshoots technical problems of varying complexity. Serves as resource to less experienced interns in problem resolution. Prepares and packages all forms of medications. Prepares IV drugs using aseptic technique in compounding parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy and other IV drugs. Maintains inventory including floor stock medication, reorders, restocks, and monitors expiration dates of all medications. Maintains required documentation in accordance with regulatory and hospital requirements and maintains respect for patient confidentiality. Generates necessary pharmacy reports. Conducts medication room inspections in assigned patient care area in accordance with regulatory requirements. Triages pharmacy calls. Maintains a clean work area and assists in quality indicator monitoring. Assists with yearly inventory in assigned areas.
