I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for C.A.T. scans. Prepares patient for exams as required and insures patient comfort and modesty always. Obtains and reviews the requisition for C.A.T. Scan. Properly identifies patients according to the NPSG. Reviews Radiologist imaging protocol, patient questionnaire and medication home list before any procedure is performed.

The CTTechnologist is responsible for performing diversified duties in the CT section of the Radiology Department.
This position is part of the 1199SEIU Bargaining Unit at Cooley Dickinson Hospital.
This position reports to the Supervisor, CT, and operates within established organizational and departmental policies and procedures.

Essential Functions
Must be able to effectively interact appropriately to an individual's intellectual level and physical ability including infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patients.
* Operate equipment using standards or following prescribed procedures and report any malfunctions.
* CT scan patients, recognize the desired information pattern and record.
* May be required to do quality control duties.
* Participate in reviewing interpretation of various daily scans with the Radiologist.
* Interview patients in order to obtain information pertinent to the examination performed.
* Explain examination to patient.
* Review patient's medical history; ask questions pertinent to exam and to the administration of IV contrast.
* Explain risks and benefits.
* Obtain consent for exam and administration of IV contrast, give patient exam preparation, position patient, and possibly transport patient from and to the unit.
* Schedule patients and assure effective movement of same to keep within the scheduled work load.
* Image exams as required, assuring high quality images.
* Perform various imaging tasks.
* Save images by archiving and recalling images as needed.
* Use cost effective judgment and measures when producing images for interpretation by the radiologist.
* Prepare exam for interpretation by radiologist.
* Maintain demonstrated proficiency in the conscious sedation policy and be able to take the necessary steps to assure continuum of patient care.
* Recognize and understand the specific use of all special procedures, catheters, needles, and surgical instruments as related to CT procedures.
* Start an intravenous line and inject contrast material under the direction of the Radiologist and within hospital policy.
* Will be observed on a yearly basis, by a radiologist, initiating an IV line.
* Remain available to cover the CT area on an on-call basis 24 hours a day, 7 days a week on a rotational basis and/or for emergencies.
* Accomplish and document yearly in-servicing on administration of contrast materials and contrast reactions.
* Use and train others on the Radiology Information System.
* Must take charge of department as deemed necessary by the CT Team Leader.
* Assist with student training as necessary.
* Maintain established hospital and departmental policies and procedures, objectives, confidentiality, quality improvement program, compliance, safety, infection control, and environmental standards.
* Maintain professional growth and development through attendance at seminars, workshops, conferences or in-services, professional affiliations, or journals to stay abreast of current trends in field of expertise.
* Meet annual competency and retraining requirements.
* Attend meetings as required.
* Perform other functions/duties as requested.

* Ensures patient positioning and immobilization to achieve optimal image quality and reduce radiation exposure.

* Operates and calibrates CT equipment, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to safety standards.
* Monitors patients during procedures to ensure safety and address any concerns.
* Collaborates with radiologists to ensure accurate interpretation of CT images and follows up on additional imaging requests.
* Maintains accurate documentation of procedures, patient information, and imaging results.

This is a per diem position in the AMIGO (Advanced Multimodality Image Guided Operating) Suite at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Job Summary
Brief- CTtechnologist needed to perform image guided procedures such as ablations and biopsies
Under the guidance of the supervisor, performs all diagnostic procedures with the knowledge of all pertinent and academic areas to produce consistent, high-quality exams. Works effectively with patients and physicians and maintains a cooperative relationship with interdepartmental personnel. Prioritizes the patient as number one and to put forth the utmost quality as a technologist. May perform necessary procedures on patients in all age groups.
Essential Functions-Perform CT interventional procedures under direct supervision of an Attending Physician.
* Assist the other technologists during procedures.
* Ensure the proper exam is being administered to the patient. Consult provider as needed.
* Review images and studies for proper identification and quality.
* Checks patient history, and obtains appropriate waivers and forms, if applicable.
* Identifies patient service requirements by establishing personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements.
Qualifications
* Operates CT equipment to obtain diagnostic images and information according to departmental protocol on outpatients. In doing so, ensures the patient is properly prepared, positioned, immobilized and uses protective shield on the patient as needed. Selects proper imaging factors, and images the designated portion(s) of the body. Explains exam to patient taking into consideration physical and emotional needs; maintains ethical standards (patient confidentiality, professional conduct, etc.).
* Delivers patient care under scope of license / training. To maintain effective working relations and communication with departmental and other hospital personnel, i.e. professional, nursing, etc.
* Calibrate and verify the operation of all equipment to be used during the workday.
* To notify appropriate personnel of equipment malfunctions and repairs needed.
* Execute paperwork and Radiology Information System functions as necessary for each patient exam (e.g. schedule exam, complete exam, transfer images to PACS, etc.).
* Performs venipuncture for purposes of contrast administration under the direction of a radiologist.
* Follow all hospital and departmental contrast administration policies and procedures.
* Attend staff meetings, in-services, and maintains appropriate CEU's in accordance with Massachusetts State Licensure and A.R.R.T. (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) requirements.
* To acknowledge and participate in research programs, quality assurance and quality improvement projects carried on in the department (i.e. cost containment).
* Rotates within department, divisions, by shifts as required and needed; cooperates with all personnel, promoting harmony within department.
* Transport and transfer patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines.
* Uses independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative under pressure in a variety of situations when performing patient exams.
* Performs all other duties as directed.
Qualifications
* Must be a graduate of an approved school of Radiologic technology; possess a current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license and be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
* Be Registered or eligible for certification in CT by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists or equivalent is required.

Job Summary
CTTechnologist on call ,7p-7a Saturday & Sunday
Performs CT imaging safely and efficiently based on established guidelines and protocols. CTtechnologists will be required to have sound knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy, spine anatomy, neuro-vascular anatomy, and head and neck anatomy including knowledge of common head and neck diseases and their processes. The CTtechnologist will act and work both independently and in collaboration with Radiologists, the Lead Imaging Specialist, Clinical Manager and fellow technologists to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of exams while constantly providing comfort and safety to patients in order to achieve the highest diagnostic imaging quality possible.
CROSS-MODALITY FLEXIBILITY: CTTechnologists who have experience and are cross-trained in other modalities such as X-Ray and MRI may be assigned by one's own initiative or by departmental needs as seen fit, including but not limited to; temporarily assigning shifts and rotating ones days and/or shift hours to ensure consistent, dependable service. While working in such modality, the employee must be competent and follow the guidelines for essential functions and responsibilities within that modality.
Qualifications
CTTechnologists must meet license requirements and one of the following educational recommendations and as set forth by the department and the American College of Radiology (ACR):
* ARRT registered
* Commonwealth of Massachusetts Radiologic Technologist state license.

Job Summary
Under the general direction from the manager, the incumbent prepares, sets up and operates the CT Scanners following specific physician orders. Produces detailed computer-generated scans for diagnostic and interventional information. Performs a variety of patient care tasks; assists patients onto scanner, verifies identification prior to scan, enters patient information into system from requisitions and ensures files are archived onto local media and networked to RELAY/PACS and completed properly in RIS. Maintains facilities in proper order. Must keep abreast of all outpatient procedures/policies within the CT Dept. Engages in additional duties as assigned. Competent in all routine outpatient CT exams.
Obtains ARRT or NMTCB (R), (T) or (N) registration, applicable state licensure.
Confirms correct patient and exam to be performed through patient confirmation and interview, patient history, medical record, appropriately modifying and documenting as needed to ensure accurate imaging and records. Explains exam to patient taking into consideration individual physical, emotional and language needs; Ensures patient compliance and understanding.
Adjusts scanners and injectors to correct settings for all exams to set automated and manual technical factors to safely image patients.
Performs required imaging using the appropriate equipment according to department protocol and/or Radiologist request.
Ensures exams are labeled correctly prior to transmission to PACS, ensures images successfully arrive in PACS.
Adheres to all departmental and hospital policies.

Job Summary
Under the general direction from the manager, the incumbent prepares, sets up and operates the CT Scanners following specific physician orders. Produces detailed computer-generated scans for diagnostic and interventional information. Primary duties are to work as a Technologist on either East Newton or Harrison Avenue campus while also implementing policy and procedures as determined necessary through CT Scan Supervisor and Radiology Administrative Director.
Work requires knowledge of principles and procedures of diagnostic radiology and CT and the operation and maintenance of Radiologic equipment generally acquired through the completion of two years post-high school training in an approved school of radiologic technology. Other in-house and on-the-job training also required. MRST, AART required. CT license preferred. Work requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and all/any apprehensions, to instruct students and to provide technical supervision to staff technologists. State license required and all applicable radiology education requirements.
