Under the supervision of the Practice Manager, the Medical Assistant/ Patient Service Specialist will function as a member of the clinical and administrative team and complete assigned daily clinical and administrative operations to ensure smooth day-to-day operations in the physician practice. This includes medical/nursing support to provider staff in the ambulatory setting, prepping the patient and seeing them through the entirety of their visit; as well as some responsibilities of the Patient Service Specialist role.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES:
* Rooms patients and prepares the patient for the provider visit.
* Takes vital signs as necessary. Responsible for accurate blood pressures, temperature, pulse, pulse oximetry, weight, height, respiratory rates and entering accurately into EMR.
* Record patient history, chief complaint, pharmacy information, prescription list, etc. into EMR for physical.
* Obtains required consents, completes required forms as needed for specific visit types.
* Performs office testing as needed. Required to perform controls on certain in-office tests.
* Performs EKGs as ordered.
* Chaperones Providers as required.
* Administers vaccines and medications as ordered by provider following BMC policies.
* Stocks rooms and monitors expiration of supplies in exam rooms.
* Assists with incoming calls as needed by answering, triaging, and routing telephone calls appropriately as needed.
* Registers patients in EMR and verifies information including demographics and obtains accurate health insurance information. Conduct eligibility checks to ensure insurance is reflected accurately.
* Schedules patients' appointments and appropriate testing for patients as directed.
* Follows scheduling rules and direct schedules patient visits in other practices.
* Performs pre-visit planning daily for all upcoming scheduled appointments.
* Performs outreach to select patient groups as directed for patient care and quality and schedules specialty appointments and testing as required.
* Responsible for informing manager of all clinical or administrative supply needs or assisting with ordering.
* Responsible for obtaining prior authorizations and/or insurance referrals as per practice need.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION:
* High School Diploma or equivalent. No prior experience required.
* Education from approved medical assistant program is preferred.

Compensation Range:
$17.07- $23.80

I. Major Responsibilities:
1. Provides patient care. Assesses health status, implements care plans, documents interventions and evaluates patient progress following standard procedures.
2. Coordinates patient flow and prepares patient for examination. Takes and records vital signs and EKG's. Documents intake questions. Assists physician and others in clinical procedures as required or directed. Performs other basic clinical procedures such as venipuncture.
3. Performs basic office laboratory procedures such as urinalysis, urine culture, , pregnancy tests, throat cultures and related procedures. Draws blood as required or directed.
4. Returns patient calls and documents in patient record as required or directed by the RN or physician.
5. Obtains laboratory results. Ensures results are brought to the attention of the physicians and others as appropriate.
6. Maintains records, reports, logs and other statistical information as required or directed.
7. Performs a variety of clerical duties such as typing, filing, scheduling appointments, making phone call and related duties as required or directed.
8. Maintains assigned departmental and/or clinical supplies. Ensures accurate inventory of supplies based on approved levels. Rotates stock as required. Initiates requisitions for re-supply or special items.

We are seeking a 40-hour Full-time Medical Assistant to support our Cardiology practice onsite Monday- Friday. We are open 8:00-am-5:00pm so shifts time are flexible within that time frame!

We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to work onsite at our Primary and Specialty Care practice located at 2 Corporation Way in Peabody, MA. Our hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm, with staggered shifts. On a typical day, you'll support a steady patient schedule (approximately 20 patients per day, depending on staffing and visit type). Medical Assistants are typically paired one-on-one with a provider and may provide additional support to other providers as needed. This position is primarily focused on primary care, with cross-coverage in specialty areas as needed.

Job Summary
This temporary grant funded role is a vital member of the care team responsible for providing patient care in the operating room and procedural area, as well as offering administrative coverage. This unit is a women's reproductive health clinic that provides both medical and surgical abortion care as well as complex contraception procedures needing sedation. Clinical Responsibilities
* Utilize two appropriate patient identification methods for each patient in compliance with regulations.
* Review the daily schedule of patients and facilitate efficient patient flow including x-ray order entry, cast/bracing requisitions, etc.

* Implement wound care under direct supervision of provider.

Job Summary
GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT: In order to meet the needs of MGH primary care patients, a new model for primary care is required, with a particular emphasis on team-based care. Care teams will "partner" with each patient to define and help them reach their health goals. These health goals will be achieved by providing the patient with superior access to care, information and tools that promote collaboration with their care team and increased patient self-management of health. The design of the care teams, clinical operations, and information technology will ensure that each staff member is well supported and can effectively use their unique skills as they collaborate to care for patients. Reporting to the clinical program manager and / or practice manager, the medical assistant will be an integral member of his / her care team, working together to provide superior care and service to a panel of primary care patients. The Medical Assistant will be expected to have a global view of the day and support the patient, provider and other members of the care team to provide patients with comprehensive / effective visits and complete the tasks of the day as efficiently as possible. The Medical Assistant (and all other team members including physicians) will be expected to continually critique his / her role and offer suggestions for improvements and efficiencies in the process design. Medical Assistants from one team may be asked to support other teams as needed and can expect the same support from their colleagues. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: General Responsibilities - Active participation in patient care including anticipatory preparation for health maintenance and chronic health care needs, obtaining histories and vital signs, arranging referral and diagnostic testing appointments, doing phlebotomy including proper identification and handling of specimens, doing EKG's and performing other procedures as determined relevant to the individual patient. - Demonstrates critical thinking skills concerning appropriate documentation of allergies, medication updates, immunizations, past medical history diagnoses and any other information that is added to the medical record of an individual patient. - Demonstrates an understanding of the current and future needs of the patient in both chronic care and health maintenance and is able to use decision making skills to help patients meet those needs following appropriate protocols. - Overall responsibility for the flow of the provider's patient care session, able to make decisions concerning adding a patient to the schedule, providing needed information to the front staff concerning the work flow in the patient care area and keeping the provider informed of issues that effect the efficiency of care during the session. - Supports patient care and the health care team by anticipating administrative functions requiring support including but not limited to preparing prior authorizations, participating with the approval process for medications as appropriate, monitoring clinical messaging, supporting providers with completion of patient follow up letters, updating the medical record with patient information under the guidance of the provider. - Demonstrates a strong sense of shared responsibility to maintain a beautiful and orderly practice environment. - Depending on organization of roles within the practice, may share responsibility with other medical assistants for the quality, safety and laboratory check systems in the clinical environment including Quality Assurance for Point of Care testing. - Depending on organization of roles within the practice, may share responsibility for appropriate monitoring and stocking of supplies for the clinical and administrative needs of the practice.

* Stocks rooms and monitors expiration dates of exam room supplies.
* Monitors and logs medication/vaccine refrigerator temperatures.
* Assists with incoming calls as needed by answering, triaging, and routing telephone calls appropriately as needed.
* Follows scheduling rules and direct schedules of patient visits in other BMC practices.
* Reviews schedules (clinical pre-visit review) to ensure the provider has what the patient visits for. Example: results, consult notes, hospital notes etc. If not available, contact facility or other practice to obtain them.
* Schedules patient appointments and appropriate testing as ordered by provider upon check out from appointments or any other time as requested.
* Performs outreach to select patient groups as directed for patient care and quality and then schedule specialty appointments and testing as required.
* Responsible for informing manager of clinical supply needs or assisting with ordering.
* Responsible for obtaining prior authorizations and/or insurance referrals as per practice need.
* Essential phlebotomy skills required including technical abilities like venipuncture and specimen handling, and soft skills such as communication, empathy, and attention to detail, sterilizing instruments, and medical supply inventory
