The Senior Finance and Research Administrator is part of the Finance & Research Administration (FRA) team at CARB-X supporting all financial functions. The Senior Finance and Research Administrators responsible for managing an assigned portfolio of Product Developers (PDs) who are awarded funding from CARB-X. Project & Change Management * Plan and manage technology projects (system upgrades/migrations, web portal launches, automation initiatives), including timelines, stakeholder communication, testing, training, and go-live support. * Document configuration changes, system modifications, and new workflows; ensure version control, rollback procedures, and user documentation. * Provide or coordinate training for financial aid staff on new systems, tools, web applications, and processes, update documentation and user guides accordingly. Collaboration & Cross-Functional Integration * Work closely with campus IT, Admissions, Registrar, Business Office, and other departments to ensure seamless data flow and process alignment. * Serve as a liaison between non-technical financial aid staff and technical teams/vendors translating business requirements into technical specifications and vice versa. * Provide excellent support and communication to financial aid staff, ensuring that technology changes enhance rather than hinder their work. Continuous Improvement & Innovation * Monitor industry trends in financial aid technology, higher-ed compliance tools, and data automation/AI; and recommend adoption as appropriate. * Periodically review and assess existing processes and systems; propose enhancements to improve efficiency, accuracy, security, and user experience. * Lead or participate in strategic planning for the Financial Aid department's technology roadmap. Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree preferred in Computer Science or related field; degree requirements can be waived for 10+ years of equivalent work experience. * Proven experience supporting financial aid systems and technology, including experience with FAIS or similar platforms. * Strong knowledge of data management, system integration, and reporting tools. * Familiarity with federal and state financial aid regulations and compliance requirements (e.g., Title IV, FAFSA). * Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to financial aid systems. * Strong communication skills, both technical and non-technical, to effectively work with cross functional teams and end-users. Preferred Skills & Experience: * Experience with ERP systems (e.g., Ellucian Colleague/Banner, PeopleSoft, Jenzabar, etc.) and financial aid-specific tools. * Familiarity with reporting tools such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or other analytics software. * Knowledge of programming languages, scripting, or automation tools for process improvement. * Experience with data security and privacy regulations related to student financial data (e.g., FERPA, PCI DSS).
