GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES: The Clinical Technical DentalAssistant is responsible for the maintenance, disinfection, and sterilization of the dental hygiene clinic, radiology lab, dental materials lab, and surrounding areas. Inventory control and supply ordering will also be a major responsibility in this role. Position involves 18 hours per week from late August to late December and mid-January to early June, Mondays, Tuesday and Thursdays (some flexibility).
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
* Disinfect clinic and laboratory surfaces.
* Perform weekly / monthly / quarterly maintenance of automatic processors.
* Flush all eye-wash stations weekly; monitor documentation of maintenance / flushing.
* Process and sterilize student instruments.
* Perform daily / weekly maintenance of autoclaves; monitor documentation of autoclave cleaning and spore testing.
* Maintain deionization unit / change filters.
* Inventory / restock supplies.
* Purge water lines once per semester.
* Inspect dental units weekly for problems or repairs; perform simple repairs of units; maintain schedule of equipment maintenance and repair.
* Monitor labeling in clinic.
* Maintain MSDS binders.
* Monitor documentation of O2 tank maintenance.
* Provide technical support for dental management software.
* Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* One year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience working in a dental office in the sterilization area.

Clinical and professional skills and ethical standards for patient care will be discussed and developed in the lecture and through the laboratory and/or clinical simulation component.
Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
* Current Massachusetts DentalAssistant License or Registered Dental Hygienist license.
* Bachelor's degree in Dental Hygiene or related field.
* Previous teaching experience, preferably in a clinical or academic setting.
* Recent professional experience in the dental field.

Discipline expertise in dentalassisting.
Teach courses at a variety of times and/or delivery models such as days, evenings, face-to-face in the classroom, in hybrid formats, and online (synchronous and asynchronous).

Minimum Qualifications
Educational Requirement:
Bachelor's degree and graduate from an accredited DentalAssisting Program.
Occupational Experience Requirement:
Three (3) full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a dentalassistant.
Recency Requirement:
One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement:
DentalAssistant certification by the DentalAssisting National Board (DANB).
Current DentalAssistant License from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.
Preferred Qualification

Essential Functions:
Chairside dentalassistance using four handed dentistry in diagnostic, endodontics,, pedodontics, oral surgery, prosthodontics, and restorative procedures. (70%)
General four-handed dentistry including expanded functions:
Take digital radiographs
Take and pour impressions, along with pulling the cast apart and also trimming it for study models
Mechanically polish teeth, place sealants, fabricate temporary crowns, fabricate trays for tooth bleaching, remove sutures, place and remove rubber dams
Monitor patients that are induced under nitrous oxide analgesia. (give N2O if applicable - you must have already taken the course*)
Turn Nitrous on /off and unplug when not in use
Chart and write in progress notes using the S-O-A-P format (Subjective-Objective-Assessment and Procedure formatting)(Format used for clinical charting at CUHCC)
Prepare dental materials: cements, amalgam, composite, impression material, etc.
Take blood pressure as needed
Removing excess cement
Manage patients during dental procedures
Prepare lab slips for ordering lab work, and track receipt of cases
Schedule follow-up and hygiene appointments for patients
Sterilize instruments/equipment and maintain a standard of infection control. (10%)
Meet all sterilization and documentation criteria set by OSHA,CDC, ADA and CUHCC protocol
Make sure all instruments and equipment go through proper sterilization and re-circulation
Maintain inventory levels and stock operatories, check in new supplies. (10%)
Daily - stocking rooms, sterilization area, and any other area where we keep extra supplies
Writing supplies needed on "To be ordered list"
Notify supervisor when Nitrous and Oxygen tanks are low.
Dental reception/scheduling (5%)
Schedule appointments
Greet patients
Answer phones/telephone techniques
Confirm all appointments one day ahead
Make sure we have labels or patient identification on all records/documents
Update phone and mailing addresses in EHS
Fax referrals as needed

This position plays an important role in ensuring dental instruments are not only available to students as needed, but also are clean and sterile up to health industry standards. include, but are not limited to: * Checking out instrument kits, individual instruments, sundries, etc. to students at the beginning of each clinic session, utilizing the School's electronic records system (axi Um).
* Checking out items to students as requested during clinic sessions.
* Maintaining organization of the dispensary.
* Replenishing stock, rotating for expiration dates as necessary.
* Documenting items needed for restocking.
* Checking returned items for completeness, cleanliness, and breakage.
* Processing items for sterilization processing, including the processing/oiling of hand pieces and replenishment of bur blocks/kits.
* Performing daily, weekly, and quarterly preventive maintenance on instruments and handpieces.
* Recommending replacement of unserviceable items to area leadership.
* Operating sterilizers and washers to ensure proper cycle progression; performing tests to assure proper operation.
Note: Work hours are Monday through Friday (with occasional weekends). Hours may vary and change depending on the needs of the department.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications (Please document all required qualifications on application materials):
* Successful completion of an accredited Central Sterile Processing training program, or three (3) months experience as Hospital Central Services Technician or equivalent.
* Ability to stand on feet for the entire work shift, lift 40 pounds chest high, bend and stoop repeatedly in the handling of materials and use a ladder to reach supplies on upper shelves.
* Regular and reliable attendance.
