Boulder City Hospital company history timeline

1931

On November 15, 1931 The Six Companies, the group responsible for building Hoover Dam built the hospital for $20,000.

The hospital opened on November 15, 1931 with 20 beds.

1933

In 1933, a wing was added to the hospital as an isolation ward and the Pest House was torn down.

1935

The hospital closed in 1935 when the dam was finished.

1938

In 1938, the National Park Service assumed responsibility for the hospital building and turned it into a museum and office.

1943

The hospital opened on November 15, 1931 with 20 beds. It was not until 1943 when the hospital reopened.

1949

In 1949 the Bureau of Reclamation took control of the hospital which continuously lost money.

1954

By March 18 the fund surpassed $15,000 and the hospital was turned over to citizen control on April 15, 1954.

In 1954, with no forewarning, the Bureau dumped the hospital.

1963

A fund raising effort begun in 1963 by the Auxiliary has become a Boulder institution.

1973

On December 8, 1973, a new Boulder City Hospital located on Adams Boulevard opened its doors.
