Job Description AECOM is seeking an enthusiastic Fish Passage Engineer to expand our fish passage, fish screening, and aquatic connectivity practice across the U.S. Mountain Region. The ideal candidate brings extensive experience designing and evaluating fish passage and exclusion structures, working alongside fisheries biologists and regulatory agencies. This position will integrate engineering with ecological principles to deliver innovative solutions for fish passage, stream restoration, and river infrastructure projects. Responsibilities include leading the technical execution of projects including inspection, analysis, design, and regulatory compliance activities associated with a variety of fish passage design at hydraulic structures and the design of fish exclusion structures. Responsibilities include: Hydrologic analyses including flood frequency estimates, statistical hydrology, model preparation, calibration, and verification. Hydraulic structure modeling including river diversions and intakes, using one- and two-dimensional modeling approaches as well as spreadsheet calculations. Technical expertise in the fields of fish passage, hydraulic engineering, hydrology, sediment transport and fluvial geomorphology Lead design and evaluation of fish passage and fish exclusion structures (fish ladders, screens, nature-like bypasses, barriers for native fish protection, etc.) Preparing technical reports. Preparing drawings, specifications and calculations. Performing detailed reviews of technical deliverables prepared by others. Communicating with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and other stakeholders. Planning, directing, managing and supervising small to large scale projects. Managing project finances. Leading and mentoring junior staff. Qualifications Minimum Requirements: * Bachelor's degree and 8+ years of related experience with fish passage and fish screening design, evaluation, or regulation or demonstrated equivalency of education and/or experience Preferred Qualifications: Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Hydrologic, Hydraulic, and/or Water Resources Engineering. Professional Engineer in Colorado (or ability to obtain PE license within 6 months of hire) Passion for mentoring junior staff and leadership. Experience and demonstrated ability with the following software applications: HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS (one- and two-dimensional modeling environments). ESRI ArcMap or ArcPro (preferred) expertise. The Glazing Engineer is responsible for the completion of high quality facade, curtain wall and glazing system projects on time, within budget and within scope. This role will oversee all aspects of a project from start to finish by coordinating efforts involving the internal team, subcontractors, vendors, and owners/developers. The ideal candidate will have outstanding interpersonal skills, adjusting to changing priorities from various directives, and communicate effectively. RESPONSIBILITIES Oversees the design development and coordination of custom curtain wall and glazing systems, translating architectural intent into engineered, buildable, and fully coordinated facade solutions. Capable of leading multiple projects and supervising engineers. Know and comply with all federal, state, local building codes, ordinances and regulations, maintaining the highest standards for safety and quality. Manage relationships with all internal and external parties in order to determine specifications of the project, resolve conflict, and support success. Establish project schedule and delegate project tasks based on staff strengths, skills, and experience. Secure and allocate all resources needed for the completion of the project including building permits, licenses, materials, equipment. Negotiate, manage and communicate changes to contract scope, schedule and costs. Plan and execute inspections, assess design compliance and quality, minimize risk. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation. Regularly confer with supervisors to monitor and report on compliance, quality and productivity. Be a strong team leader, build synergy within and across the team, and develop individuals. REQUIREMENTS Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Architecture or related field. Minimum of 3+ years of experience in facade, curtain wall, or glazing system engineering within a design-build or design-assist environment Strong understanding of building envelope design, structural behavior, waterproofing, and thermal performance Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and 3D modeling tools; familiarity with facade testing standards (ASTM, AAMA, NFRC) Experience coordinating with architects, structural engineers, and fabricators through design, procurement, and installation Skilled in technical documentation, submittal review, and field problem-solving Excellent communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary project teams A valid driver's license.
