Purpose
To execute through administration, technical and management techniques, design, and direction of transportation projects to ensure the successful completion, on time and within allocated budget. Develop sustainable transportation solutions to make communities more livable by reducing traffic congestion, preserving and restoring open space, supporting local development, and improving safety for all users.
Responsibilities
Leadership and Direction
* Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Manage people and processes to ensure effective execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance.
* Provide mentorship through counsel, guidance, and knowledge to junior staff as a key component to the development of future Project and Senior Project Managers.
At the Operational and Company Level
* Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements.
* Support other disciplines with traffic engineering expertise.
* Supervise and monitor client relationship strategies, acting as primary client contact on assigned projects and maintaining client satisfaction.

* Review job cost sheets, assist with preparation of monthly billings/project invoices, and ensure assigned projects stay with budget.
* Serve as liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on project issues including technical requirements, completion requirements, and billing inquiries.
* Participate in the preparation of proposals and lead major submission on large projects.
* Supervise work of project staff to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards.

Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required.
* Ten or more (10+) years of professional engineering experience with an emphasis on transportation engineering or related field.
* Demonstrated experience leading professional engineering projects with transportation engineering projects required.
* Experience with transportation strongly preferred.
* EIT Registration required.
* Professional Engineer (PE) Registration or ability to receive within six (6) months strongly preferred.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Valid state driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle check or reliable form of transportation to/from the office and/or project site strongly preferred.
* Proficient knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, or other engineering design software.
* Experience with AutoTurn and GuideSIGN preferred.
* Proficient knowledge of computer aided design software.
* Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT), permitting agency and industry design, permitting and construction standards, policies and procedures.
* The ability to work with minimum supervision and efficiently on technical design elements including engineering plans, calculations, reports, permit applications, specifications and engineering estimates.
* Knowledge of Federal and State ADA standards and guidelines.

Quality control of all survey documents, including survey plans, record plots, metes and bounds descriptions, review of title commitment reports and construction layout services.

As a Process Engineer your role is to focus on the planning, design, operation, control, optimization, and intensification of chemical, physical/mechanical, and biological processes for complex water/wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations. A Process Engineer approves and prepares proposals and cost estimates and evaluates all project progress and recommends changes. Plans, conducts and coordinates engineering assignments, involving several smaller and some higher revenue projects, of varying complexity.

FPEs perform construction progress inspections and acceptance tests / commissioning to ensure that installed systems comply with the construction documents and applicable codes and that they function as intended. Your Opportunity
As a Mechanical Engineer, your role in our professional consulting services team is to work independently on multidisciplinary projects of various complexity as a discipline leader, through all phases of a project lifecycle. You are responsible for leading the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems on municipal water treatment plants, pumping stations, wastewater treatment plants, hydroelectric power plants, and private industrial water applications in different locations across North America. Every project has its own unique challenges, and you are considered a resource for solutions to those challenges.
Your Key Responsibilities
Lead the design of HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for various projects from preliminary design through bid and construction phases.
Develop basis of design reports (BODR) and technical memorandums for small-to- medium size projects, setting criteria for following design stages.
Develop design documents including drawings, specifications, and opinion of probable construction costs (OPCC).
Respond to RFIs, review submittals and shop drawings, and attend construction site visits for design compliance.
Develop HVAC calculations including building cooling and heating load calculations, air distribution system sizing, and hydronic distribution system sizing.
Develop Plumbing calculations including domestic water, sanitary waste, and storm water systems sizing.
Apply design codes and standards based on the project needs.
Coordinate design with other design disciplines throughout the life of a project.
Assist with mentoring engineers in training (EIT) to develop and strengthen their skills and technical abilities.
Travel to job sites in your state of residence and other states (5%)
Your Capabilities and Credentials
In-depth understanding of HVAC engineering fundamentals such as psychrometric chart, refrigeration cycle and heat transfer.
Experience in designing HVAC and Plumbing systems. Fire Protection design is a plus.
Strong familiarity with design codes and standards of practice.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Strong understanding of all phases of project deliverables.
Ability to lead one or more projects simultaneously.
Experience with HVAC load calculation software - HAP or Trace.
Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in designing HVAC, Plumbing, and Fire Protection systems for water treatment plants, wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, chemical storage rooms, and hydroelectric power plants.
Familiarity with NFPA 820 requirements for HVAC systems serving wastewater treatment plants.
Strong client presentation skills.
Education and Experience

**Pay Range:**

Job Summary

This individual will serve a key function in performing air permitting and compliance, industrial wastewater and stormwater compliance, storage tank registration and compliance evaluations, waste management, multi-media environmental compliance audits, development of monitoring and spill prevention and contingency plans, and report writing. Prepare permits and compliance programs for multiple environmental media, including air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention and storage tanks, EPCRA (Tier II, TRI);
