Purpose Assist in developing the design of dry utilities, work collaboratively in navigating dry utility review and coordination processes, and contribute to fostering positive client and stakeholder relationships for dry utilities on land development projects. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction * Working under supervision, receiving guidance on complex design and review issues while managing day-to-day utility service coordination independently. * Provide responsive and professional client service, ensuring questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner. At the Operational and Company Level * Assist senior staff members to develop the design for the removal, relocation and installation of electric, telecommunications and natural gas systems and services. * Work with project managers on utility design, service processes and requirements. * Collaborate with internal and external teams to support utility service requests and ensure smooth integration into overall project plans. * Work with and maintain professional relationships with utility providers, municipalities, and clients to facilitate compliance and timely responses. * Represent the company in meetings with utility representatives, property owners, and contractors on basic projects as needed. Do the Work * Work with team members, design team and clients to gain an understanding of existing conditions and project requirements for electric, telecommunications and natural gas services. * Perform field work to confirm existing conditions on basic projects. * Assist in development of the design of the dry utilities and work with engineers and designers to draft designs and plans. Process and track service requests with electric, telecommunications, gas, and other dry utility providers. * Collaborate contact between the company, clients, and utility providers, to assist the project manager in facilitating efficient coordination, communication, and resolution of service, design and construction related matters. * Coordinate service applications, approvals, and scheduling of utility installations and relocations. * Assist in communicating utility requirements to project managers, field staff, and clients. * Contribute to resolving conflicts and troubleshoot service-related issues between project teams, clients, and providers. * Maintain detailed records of utility service requests, timelines, and project impacts. * Participate in project development and construction meetings. * Support billing, reporting, and project documentation as it relates to utility service coordination. The role of a Project Engineer with our Water Team is a dynamic position well suited to an individual who is good at managing multiple tasks and deadlines and working with multi-disciplinary teams. The candidate may be working independently on smaller projects or providing support to a team of professionals on larger projects. The candidate should be able to evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project, and will perform a variety of tasks which may include calculations, design sketches and concepts, report preparation and field work. Projects assigned may be broad, varied and diverse in scope. Our group is involved in a wide range of water infrastructure projects, including sewer and water main of both large and small diameter systems, pump stations, and treatment facilities. Your Key Responsibilities * Manages project technical tasks including completing design work, calculations, writing specifications and technical reports on a wide range of civil infrastructure projects generally involving sanitary & storm sewer, water main design, pump stations, wastewater resource recovery facilities, water treatment facilities, and stormwater management/drainage plans. * Coordinates design and report deliverable packages for submission to clients and/or approval authorities. * Coordinate with the Project Manager and attend meetings with the client, team members and sub-consultants. * Understands and implements industry standards and manuals as well as client and regulatory agencies standards and requirements. * Assist in the preparation of engineering project documents, client presentations, client contact and communication pertaining to specific project deliverables. * Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure compatibility with the design intent. * Prepare engineering documents and contract documents by developing construction specifications, plans and schedules. * Evaluates, selects, specifies, and engineers process mechanical systems or products for a project. * Conducts quality assurance and quality control on own projects. * Assist in the review of shop drawings and submittals, responds to request for information, prepares site observation reports, and performs other contract administration tasks. * Participate in basic cost estimating under the direction of technical leaders to support engineering projects. * Perform other duties as assigned by senior engineering staff. * Involvement in regional industry professional associations. * All other duties as required and assigned. Your Capabilities and Credentials * Demonstrated efficient task management and technical execution of assigned tasks on multiple concurrent projects. * Broad, general understanding of many relevant areas of municipal engineering, hydraulics, and process mechanical systems design with respect to materials as well as industry standards. * General understanding of various construction means and methods and their disturbance impacts on the project site. * Requisite knowledge, interpretation, and application of design and construction codes. * Strong understanding of all phases of project document production and the relationship between drawings and specifications. * Proficient with of Microsoft Office Suite. Basic understanding of Revit is a plus. * Developing cooperative skills in working efficiently within a team. * Must have good driving record, and valid driver's license. * Strong presentation and communication skills. Education and Experience * Education: Minimum of Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, Chemical, or Mechanical Engineering * Experience: Minimum of seven years of related work experience. * Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to successfully obtain within twelve (12) months.
