Purpose To execute through administration, technical and management techniques, design, and direction of transportation projects to ensure the successful completion, on time and within allocated budget. Responsibilities Leadership and Direction * Receive broad guidance from senior-level management relating to overall key objectives, critical issues, new concepts, and policy matters and general parameters for execution. Review work produced by staff for quality assurance. * Provide mentorship through counsel, guidance, and knowledge to junior staff as a key component to the development of future Project and Senior Project Managers. At the Operational and Company Level * Coordinate with other internal departments to meet project requirements. * Support other disciplines with traffic engineering expertise. * Supervise and monitor client relationship strategies, acting as primary client contact on assigned projects and maintaining client satisfaction. * Lead regular project staff meetings. * Assist with the marketing of the firm's capabilities to establish new clients and enhance relationships. Do the Work * Manage projects or direction of transportation tasks on projects and monitor project progress for technical accuracy and adherence to schedule and budget. * May assist with budgeting, staffing, scheduling and client management tasks. * Develop and maintain project budgets and schedules. * Assist in definition of scope of assigned transportation projects and develop plan to accomplish projects. * Monitor progress toward deliverable schedules and compile project status reports. * Provide technical assistance in the resolution of design problems and provide technical quality control of multiple assigned projects. * Prepare client presentations and attend public meetings. * Review plans and prepare or review technical specifications, contract documents, and estimates. * Review project changes, pending or anticipated alterations to the contract, additional work requests, and other factors. * Review job cost sheets, assist with preparation of monthly billings/project invoices, and ensure assigned projects stay with budget. * Serve as liaison between clients and agencies, subcontractors, and design teams on project issues including technical requirements, completion requirements, and billing inquiries. * Participate in the preparation of proposals and lead major submission on large projects. * Supervise work of project staff to ensure that it meets the highest professional standards. Qualifications * Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field required. * Ten or more (10+) years of professional engineering experience with an emphasis on transportation engineering or related field. * Demonstrated experience leading professional engineering projects with transportation engineering projects required. * Experience with transportation strongly preferred. * EIT Registration required. * Professional Engineer (PE) Registration or ability to receive within six (6) months strongly preferred. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). * Valid state driver's license and ability to successfully pass a motor vehicle check or reliable form of transportation to/from the office and/or project site strongly preferred. * Proficient knowledge of MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, or other engineering design software. * Experience with AutoTurn and GuideSIGN preferred. * Proficient knowledge of computer aided design software. * Familiarity with Department of Transportation (DOT), permitting agency and industry design, permitting and construction standards, policies and procedures. * The ability to work with minimum supervision and efficiently on technical design elements including engineering plans, calculations, reports, permit applications, specifications and engineering estimates. * Knowledge of Federal and State ADA standards and guidelines. The position will also provide hydrogeology support to the Water Resources Business Line. This position is based out of Stantec's West Palm Beach office. The Hydrogeologist will report to a Hydrogeologist Team Leader and will be responsible for designing, supporting, and executing hydrogeological investigations for dewatering, water supply, and aquifer recharge studies for water supply clients. This candidate also will be responsible for leading a large capacity production well design and construction projects. The successful candidate should have a background in drilling groundwater production wells, familiar with deep injection well construction, ability to oversee and support groundwater flow modeling, field investigations, conduct aquifer performance tests, project management, and technical report writing. This position interacts with both internal and external clients in field and office settings. The position requires travel to sites, primarily in the central Florida area. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary for the position. The position will also provide hydrogeology support to the Water Resources Business Line. This position is based out of Stantec's West Palm Beach office. The Hydrogeologist will report to a Hydrogeologist Team Leader and will be responsible for designing, supporting, and executing hydrogeological investigations for dewatering, water supply, and aquifer recharge studies for water supply clients. This candidate also will be responsible for leading a large capacity production well design and construction projects. The successful candidate should have a background in drilling groundwater production wells, familiar with deep injection well construction, ability to oversee and support groundwater flow modeling, field investigations, conduct aquifer performance tests, project management, and technical report writing. This position interacts with both internal and external clients in field and office settings. The position requires travel to sites, primarily in the central Florida area. Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills are necessary for the position. Your Key Responsibilities Follow safe work practices and adhere to company and client guidelines and policies for planning and executing work in a safe manner. Develop new well designs for groundwater monitoring and groundwater production. Design field investigations in support of hydrogeology studies including drilling, well construction, and testing oversight; groundwater sampling; and water level monitoring. Prepare technical reports documenting field investigations and analytical results. Prepare and deliver presentations of hydrogeologic investigations to internal and external clients. Ability to mentor junior staff and provide input to improve hydrogeologic interpretations or client deliverables. Assist project managers with developing project budgets, determining project scope, and establishing project schedules. Excellent communication skills: verbal, business writing, electronic communications, and presentations (record of publications, project reports, and/or public presentations will be requested). Ability to work independently and provide a supervisory role in the field at remote sites. Must have a good driving record and valid Driver's License. Education and Experience Minimum of an B.S. (M.S. preferred) in Hydrogeology/Geology/Geochemistry or related field is required. Experience and/or course work completed in geology, hydrogeology, and production well design and construction, and aquifer test analysis is required. A minimum of 5 years of working experience in consulting, mining or similar field requiring regularly using and analyzing hydrogeologic data. Existing professional registration in Florida or ability to work towards a professional registration (PG).
