Peers
Leadership hires friends with no background in their profession and shuns hiring external experts in youth research and practice. Highly silo'd, just elongated DEI dept. local orgs deserve a better national org
Local club interaction
They really know how to game the financials. External budget for funders/partners. Inside budget shows massive underspend for local clubs.
Stay nonpartisan. Heritage foundation board nominations and letters of support for Jeff sessions ... red lining and project 2025 show Jim Clark and RD gov aspirations not benefit for youth served
Life experience and having done real work at club level
Wayyyyyy above average for SLT
Just eliminated DEI team... supports Heritage Foundation
Working for clubs...
Many of my colleagues are excellent people to work with. Nonprofit org with a good mission.
Chaos. We're always understaffed. We're always under pressure to develop things before leadership has even made decisions about what they want.
Health insurance (premiums paid by employer)
Family like environment
Could definitely use more structure.
Being able to work with children who look up to me
Working with the kids
Some of the kids misbehave all the time
Seeing the kids every day, helping them, and watching them grow
The experience
The employers and how we are treated. We are overworked for what we are paid and we are pushed beyond our limits.
We have no benefits, we aren't even really allowed to take time off unless we have covid
Working with the youth while positively influencing them and bettering their future
It can be very disorganized at times, but that is about it.
Health benefits, and free food
the children were very fun to work with. i liked teaching the new and exciting heats to deal with life.
I worked with sexually abused children and ones that sexually abused others
had great insurance and other benefits
The children and opportunities presented to the workers
The volunteer hours on the weekend
Educating children and impacting lives in a positive way
The Pay
Community events
My engagement and the difference I make in children's' lives.
I wish I had the ability to follow up with children outside of work
The enjoyment the children give me . Accommodating schedule.
the environment in which I was in, and the atmosphere of it all.
