THE BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF LONG BEACH'S MISSION IS TO ENABLE ALL YOUNG PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THE DISADVANTAGED AND UNDERREPRESENTED OF OUR COMMUNITY, TO REALIZE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL AS CARING, RESPONSIBLE AND PRODUCTIVE CITIZENS. OUR PROGRAMS ARE YOUTH CENTERED, AND OFFER THE YOUNG PEOPLE THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN POSITIVE ALTERNATIVES TO DELINQUENT BEHAVIOR. EVERY YEAR WE STRIVE TO ENSURE OUR CLUB MEMBERS ARE ACHIEVING ACADEMIC SUCCESS, ARE LIVING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES AND ARE CIVICALLY ENGAGED. WE DO THIS THROUGH FUN, INNOVATIVE AND AGE APPROPRIATE PROGRAMS. VOLUNTEERS ARE ABLE TO ASSIST IN DELIVERING PROGRAMS IN THE FOLLOWING FIVE AREAS: HEALTH AND LIFE SKILLS, EDUCATION AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT, SPORTS FITNESS AND RECREATION, THE ARTS, AND CHARACTER AND LEADERSHIP. WE SERVE APPROXIMATELY 5,800 YOUTH ANNUALLY AND VOLUNTEERS HELP US TO ENSURE WE ARE DELIVERING QUALITY PROGRAMS THAT APPEAL TO YOUNG PEOPLE AGES 6-18 YEARS.
