BP America Overview

BP America, Inc. is engaged in exploring, producing, refining, marketing, trading, and transporting oil and natural gas in the United States. It offers fuel for transportation, energy for heat and light, lubricants for engines, and petrochemicals; produces a range of materials, including terephthalic acid, paraxylene, and naphthalene dicarboxylate that are necessary to make products, such as clothes, flat-screen televisions, safety belts, and plastic beverage bottles; manufactures and markets lubricants and related products for automotive, industrial, marine, energy, and space exploration customers; and supplies fuel and related retail services to consumers through independent jobbers and dealer wholesalers, as well as company-owned and franchised retail sites. The company also buys and sells products ranging from oil and natural gas to power and financial derivatives; refines, transports, sells, and trades crude oil and petroleum products; offers biofuels; operates pipelines that transport oil, refined products, natural gas, natural gas liquids, and chemicals; and operates wind farms in Texas, Indiana, California, Colorado, South Dakota, Idaho, Kansas, Hawaii, and Pennsylvania. In addition, it produces ethanol from sugarcane; and operates retail sites in the United States. Further, the company operates refineries in Whiting, Indiana; in Blaine, Washington; and Oregon, Ohio. BP America, Inc. was formerly known as BP-Amoco, Inc. The company was incorporated in 1974 and is based in Warrenville, Illinois. It has operations in Alaska, Alabama, California, Chicagoland, Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Michigan, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming. BP America, Inc. operates as a subsidiary of BP p.l.c.

What Do You Like About Working There?

The uniforms were comfortable and the displays were updated frequently enough that the information as always up to date for the customers as well as being visually appealing.

What DON'T You Like About Working There?

The standards were poor and they seemed to have minimal interest in maintaining a positive representation of their brand within independent establishments beyond advertising updates. Ensuring employees were treated fairly and the establishments were clean seemed to be at the bottom of their list.

What Are Your Favorite Benefits/Perks?

Regular customers who came in and made the job enjoyable. Otherwise the job itself did not offer any benefits.
