Department Summary
The Materials Science Institute fosters research and education in the structure and properties of materials, to educate in the sciences of materials, and to serve Oregon as a resource in these sciences. The MSI members are active in the study of the structure, reactivity and thermodynamics of materials in addition to their electronic and optical properties. Collaboration between Institute members and industrial research laboratories is common and an important dimension of the program. The Materials Science Institute consists of 27 faculty members, 9 faculty associates and over 175 research support staff.
Since 1985 the MSI has more than tripled the size of its research program, developed four new graduate programs in materials, and contributed to the State's prosperity through collaboration with more than 25 Oregon companies.
Position Summary
The Materials Science Institute seeks a detail-oriented, adaptable, organized, and communicative individual to provide high-level administrative support for the Institute PI's sponsored projects. This position will require the ability to work independently, demonstrate sound judgment, and exercise creative problem-solving skills.
The Research Administrative Coordinator advises MSI Principal Investigators and researchers in preparing grant proposals and maintaining post award grant/contract accountability and compliance, in accordance with funding agency award agreements, university policy, and general accounting principles and procedures.
The position interprets federal/state guidelines and requirements and provides support in adhering to legal, policy, and technical requirements. Using the Banner Financial System and Excel, this includes maintaining shared ledgers for grants funds, cost share funds, matching funds (external and internal), and other related research funds.
This position will evaluate and approve purchase requisitions, place orders, process invoice payments, journal vouchers, Personal Services Contracts, and travel reimbursements. The position will verify accuracy of receipts and expense claims, and review account files to ensure audit trail requirements are met. The position also assists MSI faculty and research staff with completing travel requests and expense reports through the University's Concur travel system, ensuring compliance with sponsor, IRS, State and UO Travel policies.
This position is a key member of the team coordinating the summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program, sponsored by the National Science Foundation which provides opportunities for undergraduate students to participate in active research.
Minimum Requirements
• Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance or other related field AND
• Two years of progressively responsible experience in business, finance or compliance administration, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Experience in developing, editing and reviewing grant proposals and budgets for adherence to Federal, State, Sponsor and University regulations.
• One or more years of experience managing research or grants in higher education, a research organization, or a related environment.

• Experience with budget and financial management.

Position Duties & Responsibilities
* Provide administrative and clerical support for the Dean and Program Leadership, including (but not limited to) budget preparation, timely issuance of adjunct contracts, and coordination of departmental events.
* Keep the appointment calendar for the Dean and Program Leadership and schedule appointments with faculty, students, and others, as required.
* Provide administrative support to the Dean and Program Leadership including scheduling, creating agendas, and recording of minutes, as required.
* Assist the Dean and Program Leadership in liaising with relevant accrediting bodies, as required.
* Assist the Dean and Program Leadership in the coordination and execution of departmental events including but not limited to advisory boards meeting, accreditation site visits, and events and productions.

Department Summary
The Early Childhood CARES program is a department within the College of Education. Early Childhood CARES stands for Early Childhood Coordination Agency for Referrals, Evaluations, and Services. Early Childhood CARES provides Early Intervention (EI) and Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) services to infants, toddlers, and preschool children in Lane County with developmental delays and disabilities. Early Childhood CARES is funded by the Oregon Department of Education and is one of nine programs in Oregon delivering EI/ECSE services across the state.
Position Summary
The purpose of this position is to assist Early Childhood CARES Specialists in preparing and using appropriate curriculum to promote growth and learning in all developmental areas for children receiving EI/ECSE services. The Early Childhood Assistant will help implement individualized goals and objectives and facilitate integration into community preschools. The Assistant may observe and record specific behavioral data as well as targeted goals and objectives, and communicate with program staff, consultants, related service providers, and parents.
This position reports to the EC CARES Program Coordinator. The Assistant will be working with children birth to school age with disabilities.

This recruitment will be used to fill future full-time or part-time, 9-month, Early Childhood Assistant positions at the Childhood Development Center affiliated with the School of Human Development and Family Sciences in the College of Health at Oregon State University ( OSU ).

Key Responsibilities
Classroom Support 95%
+ Under the guidance of the Head Teacher and/or Director, provide assistance in assigned classroom to:
+ Gather and prepare materials for classroom use.
+ Follow a consistent schedule which includes small and large group experiences, choice time, music and movement, large and small motor activities, skill development, two meals and effective transitions between activities.
+ Maintain a developmentally appropriate and safe environment.
+ Support an atmosphere that promotes and reinforces parental involvement in the classroom.
+ Work with and guide children in a supportive, positive and consistent manner.
+ Provide supervision for small group activities.
+ Work with individual or small groups of children.
+ Perform classroom and center cleaning tasks as needed and as directed.
+ Interact with children and family members to nurture positive relationships and provide support in professional manner.
+ Monitor and assist with meals, nap time, clean-up, and hygienic care (toileting, handwashing, etc.).
+ Create and maintain a safe, healthy, culturally appropriate, emotionally secure learning environment.
+ Encourage and participate in activities that foster an environment that is diverse, equitable, inclusive, and fosters a sense of belonging for both students, families and co-workers.
+ Monitor playground activities to ensure compliance with safety.

What We Require
A minimum of twenty semester hours (thirty quarter hours) of college courses in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or Special Education; OR a Child Development Associate ( CDA ) credential; OR one year of full-time experience in a certified day care center or comparable child care program.

What We Would Like You to Have
+ Experience working with 3-5-year-old children and/or in a preschool.
+ Knowledge of Head Start.
+ Bachelor's degree in early childhood education or related field.
+ Demonstrated understanding of Oregon licensing requirements and rules regulating childcare centers.
+ Teaching experience in early childhood settings.
+ Knowledge of community resources in support of families, i.e. health, nutrition, educational, medical, etc.
+ Training and experience with multicultural populations.
+ Demonstrated ability to design and or implement trauma informed care.
Working Conditions / Work Schedule
The work schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 8-4:30. Occasional evening work may be required.
This position requires repetitive bending, twisting, stooping, kneeling, climbing and grasping to perform cleaning duties, assist children, and other duties as assigned, and sitting (on the floor, small chairs, and/or outdoors) as needed to attend to child's needs. Must be able to rapidly survey environment and move quickly to respond to children to ensure their safety or the safety of other children. Occasionally required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must be able to respond appropriately (both mentally and physically) to an emergency or a crisis.

Position Summary
The CSWS Office Assistant (Office Specialist 2) in the Center for the Study of Women in Society supports the center as a whole and reports to the Business Manager and Director. Under the supervision of the Business Manager, the position will work as the primary reception person and office administrative support person. They also assist as the center's event coordinator, including carrying out projects such as conferences, symposia, colloquia, etc. They will also help the Business Manager with financial transactions, including payment of invoices, faculty reimbursements, and journal vouchers.
This position receives various assignments that call for initiative, independence, judgment, organization, and excellent communication skills.
