Using his savvy business skills and a small amount of money, he purchased a mule and a wagon, and the J.W. Brannan Sand and Gravel Company opened its doors in 1906.
The Brannan Sand and Gravel Company started mining the property for gravel circa 1945.
In 2003 a new division, Brannan Construction Company was formed to support the need for pipeline and underground utilities construction and repair.
In 2018 Brannan Sand & Gravel grew again through the purchase of Ready Mixed Concrete Company, bringing their concrete division to a solid place in the market.
